Connors Doubles One Then Busts One

C.J. Connors
C.J. Connors

We arrived at the table to find Mashir Khan and C. J. Connors heads up with the board showing {8-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

Khan was in thought after Connors had lead out with a bet. After a few moments he announced that he was all-in, moving his last 24,000 forward. Connors made the call and both players turned over their cards.

Mashir Khan: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
C. J. Connors: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Khan was ahead and locked up the double when the {6-Diamonds} arrived on the river.

Connors, in the small blind, tangled with Terry Barron the very next hand.

Barron moved all-in from early position for 44,000. Action folded around to Connors who also announced he was all in. The big blind quickly folded. As the cards were turned over Barron found he was dominated.

C. J. Connors: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Terry Barron: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} to give Barron flush and back door straight outs. But he received no additional help from the {5-Spades} turn and {5-Clubs} river, giving Connors the knockout.

Quentin Crossley

The action folded to Simon Webster in the small blind and he limped for 4,000. Quentin Crossley checked his option in the big blind and the two saw a flop of {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Webster bet 6,000 and Crossley casually raised to 16,000.

Webster thought for a bit and then said, "I'm only going to do this one time. I'm going to fold a five."

Webster then threw his cards away, saying, "I had five-three."

Crossley nodded and turned over the {5-Clubs}, and the table had a good laugh.

"I did not have a deuce," Crossley added.
