Wakil's Aces Win Him a Eight-Figure Pot
Jamil Wakil raised to 250,000 from the cutoff before Christopher Puetz three-bet to 920,000 out of the big blind. Wakil used a time bank before he four-bet to 1,700,000. Puetz opted to use one of his time banks and then jammed to put Wakil all in. Wakil instantly called for his stack of 5,105,000, creating the first eight-figure pot of the tournament.

Prior to this hand, Wakil and Puetz had been having a few preflop raising wars this blind level. Whoever won this pot would become the chip leader of the tournament.
The dealer fanned out a flop of 7♠9♣8♣, keeping Wakil's aces firmly ahead. The K♠ turn meant only a brutal river queen would crack Wakil's aces. It wasn't to be for Puetz as the 4♠ rolled off, and Wakil won the pot of over ten million.
