Artur Martirosian raised to 105,000 from the cutoff before Marcel Grubinger potted it from the small blind. Martirosian shoved, and Grubinger called for his stack of around 500,000.
Marcel Grubinger: A♦A♣9♠9♣
Artur Martirosian: A♠K♥K♠10♣
Martirosian started the hand with not too much more than Grubinger, so this pot was pivotal to his future in Day 1a of the Main Event.
Martirosian picked up a flush draw on the 5♠8♠3♣ flop, although Grubinger's bullets were still ahead.
A 7♦ hit the turn, which meant only a king or spade would bust Grubinger.
The dealer peeled out the 3♠ on the river to complete Martirosian's flush, and Grubinger said, "GG", as he tapped the table and headed for the rail.
