With 65 entries recorded on Day 1a of the $25,000 NLH Main Event, play will continue today until only 10 remain. All of which will bag up their chips and return for Day 2 on Thursday, February 5, where they will all be in the money.
Danilo Velasevic's stack of around 260,000 was in the middle preflop with Eelis Parssinen being the player trying to bust him.
Danilo Velasevic: K♠Q♠
Eelis Parssinen: J♣J♦
It was a flip that Parssinen came out on top of, as a low board of 3♣8♦7♥4♠9♥ came out. Velasevic didn't connect and he wished the players good luck as he ventured toward the exit.
Naryman Yaghmaie raised from the hijack to 25,000 and Artur Martirosian called out of the small blind. Alexandre Reard squeezed all in for 218,000 from the big blind, which only Martirosian called.
Alexandre Reard: Q♥Q♠
Artur Martirosian: 8♣8♥
Reard had the bigger pocket pair and managed to fade the bad beat on the 7♥A♦5♦6♥J♦ runout, which meant he doubled up to almost half a million.
Level: 11
Blinds: 6,000/12,000
Ante: 12,000
The players have been sent on a 60-minute break and will return at roughly 8:25 p.m. Late registration for Day 1a will close at the conclusion of this break.
Heads-up to the turn on a board of 10♠9♣J♠4♣ between Alexey Borovkov under the gun, and Kenar on the button.
Borovkov checked and then faced a bet of 75,000 from Kenar. Borovkov jammed, causing Kenar to sigh, say "let's gamble", and put in the call for his last 100,000.
Kenar: Q♦Q♥
Alexey Borovkov: J♣J♦
Borovkov had outflopped Kenar by spiking top set, although Kenar had quite a few outs with one card to come.
It wasn't to be for Kenar as the 10♥ came on the river to give Borovkov the nut boat, and he added even more chips to his already huge stack.

Yaman Nakdali checked from the big blind on a board of 4♠7♦Q♠10♥, and Markkos Ladev jammed for 125,000 out of the hijack. Nakdali had to use one of his time banks before deciding to call.
Markkos Ladev: A♥A♣
Yaman Nakdali: Q♥K♦
Ladev had pocket rockets against the top pair of Nakdali.
The river came the 7♠, keeping Ladev's pair of aces as the best hand and he secured the double-up at the expense of Nakdali.
