Paik Sets Up Wang

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Albert Paik is increasing his stranglehold on the final table and has just won a sizable pot from next closest rival Yang Wang to take a big bite out of the Chinese player's stack and pull Paik further out in front.

It was Wang who was the initial aggressor, making it 19,000 to go from the cutoff, and Paik made the call from the big blind to bring in the {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop.

This saw Paik lead into Wang for 16,000 and it did not take Wang long to chuck in some raising chips, making it 66,000 to go. Paik smooth-called and the {2-Spades} hit the turn. Paik checked, and Wang saved some chips by checking it back.

The {3-Spades} river saw Paik lead once more, this time for 26,000 and Wang grudgingly slid out the call, but could only muck when Paik revealed his {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} set of sevens.

Gao Busts Yu to Burst Bubble

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Chung Yuan Yu
Chung Yuan Yu

We did not see when all the chips went in but came running in time to see Taiwan's Chung Yuan Yu depart at the hands of Wenling Gao to burst the bubble and guarantee all seven remaining finalists an HKD $160,000 payday.

The community cards were spread {7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Yu had {k-Spades}{6-Clubs} face-up on the felt. Unfortunately, this was not enough to best Gao's {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Yu headed for the rail with nothing, while Gao stacked up to 210,000.

Cheng Busts Tang to Bring in Bubble

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Danny Tang
Danny Tang

Absolutely nothing went right for Danny Tang on the final table and the Hong Kong player has become the first casualty. Tang was down to his last 115,000 after losing with kings versus the ace-king suited of Albert Paik earlier and had dropped down to 98,000. This went in from the button with big blind Tony Cheng choosing to roll the dice and make the call for his tournament life.

Danny Tang: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Tony Cheng: {9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

It was Cheng who was covered and at-risk and the {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} flop brought something for both players, with Tang hitting middle pair and Cheng flopping the open ender. The {j-Hearts} turn kept Tang in the lead, but the {5-Clubs} river gave Cheng the straight. Cheng double and Tang was left with just 2 big blinds.

This was all-in the next hand after Albert Paik raised, Tang shoved, Yang Wang called, Tony Cheng called and Chung Yuan Yu called. The run out came down {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} and was checked all the way through. Tang showed {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} but could not best Cheng's {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and the eight remaining players are on the money bubble.

Chen Doubles Through Leow

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Chihwen Chen
Chihwen Chen

Every since Chihwen Chen showed Ivan Leow that he is willing to fold top pair (see the hand against Chung Yuan Yu four posts ago) the Malaysian has tried to play nearly every hand he can against the Taiwanese player. Unfortunately for Leow, this has resulted in a double-up for Chen.

It was another blind on blind battle and we picked up the action on a flop of {4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts} with over 30,000 in the pot just as Chen fired for around the same. Leow called and the dealer burned and turned the {10-Spades}.

Chen thought for an ice age, before betting 70,000, leaving himself 40,000 behind. Leow shoved and Chen beat him into the pot.

Chihwen Chen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Ivan Leow: {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

While Leow was ahead on the flop, Chen had turned Broadway and the {10-Diamonds} river saw him double at Leow's expense.

Leow Wins Multi-way

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Every time Chihwen Chen is in a hand so is Ivan Leow. Chen raised from UTG+1 with Leow making the call from one seat over. Small blind Victor Chong asked both players how much they were playing before doing some on the fly math, though he did eventually fold. Big blind Albert Paik called and it was three-way to a flop of {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. This was checked over to Leow, who fired for 19,000, which was enough to take it down.

Chen raised the next hand as well, only this time it was Yang Wang who called, but folded out when Chen shoved the flop.

Leow Playing Big Two

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Chihwen Chen opened the action from the cutoff with a raise to 13,000 and Ivan Leow re-raised to what looked to be 33,000 from the button. Chen made the call and it was off to a flop of {q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Chen checked, Leow led for 21,000 and Chen made a quick fold. Leow obligingly flashed him the {2-Hearts} for an interesting re-raise around the back pre-flop, to chuckles from the rest of the table.

Back-to-Back Pots For Gao

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Wenling Gao
Wenling Gao

Wenling Gao has just padded her stack out twice without showdown, taking down one pot on the turn with some aggressive moves, before moving all-in from the button for close to 145,000. Big blind Ivan Leow asked for a count, there was some banter back and forth in Mandarin, Danny Tang got scolded for trying to peek and Leow's cards and the Malaysian player eventually mucked, leaving Gao free to rake in the pot.

Yu Pushes Off Chen

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

The final table's two Taiwanese players just went head-to-head and it was Chung Yuan Yu who came out in front. It was Chen who was the pre-flop raiser, making it 13,000 to go from middle position, with Yu defending from the big blind to bring in a flop of {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

The action went check, check and the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Yu shoved for 54,000 and Chen flashed him the kh] for top pair before mucking, leaving Yu to win without showdown.
