Wenling Gao jammed the button for 246,000 and Yang Wang asked for a count. It was a close call should he chose to make it and Wang would be left with close to 320,000 should he call and lose. Wang looked sorely tempted but eventually folded, flashing Gao the as he did so. Gao obligingly flashed the and scooped the blinds and antes.
Albert Paik moved all-in from the small blind and Wenling Gao made a quick call from the big blind.
Albert Paik:
Wenling Gao:
It was Paik fighting for his tournament life, and he looked to be circling the drain when the flop came down to give Gao top pair. The was of no help, but a timely river saw the US player earn a much needed double.
After a little lull in the action, there are now four players left in contention on the OPC Final Table. The man to fall was Chihwen Chen, at the hands of his nemesis Ivan Leow in a hand that proved to be an interesting one, to say the least.
It was Leow the man driving the action, opening from under-the-gun for 50,000 with Yang Wang making the call from the next seat over. Chihwen Chen made the call from the big blind and the action went three-way to a flop of .
While the flop looked to be an innocuous one, this is where it all went nuts. Chen opened shoved for 207,000, Leow called quickly and Wang folded just as quickly.
Chihwen Chen:
Ivan Leow,
Leow had hit the perfect flop and Chen was on the ropes. The turn saw Wang shoot out of his seat in disbelief, (he told us he folded ace-four and would have made the straight), but after he sat back down the dealer peeled off the river. This brought Chen's final table to an end and he headed for the rail to collect his HKD $280,000 while Leow stacked up to a cool 1-million.
Albert Paik has just found himself on the cold end of a blind-on-blind cooler.
Action had folded to Yang Wang in the small blind and he opened to 50,000. Paik then looked down at something he liked and set Wang all-in, which Wang then snap-called.
Wang:
Paik:
"Yes! Yes!" Wang began to shout before any cards had been dealt. He was right to celebrate though, as the runout was no threat to him. He doubles to 695,000, while Paik dips down to 150,000 - just seven big blinds.
For a while there, it looked as though Yang Wang could be in trouble, but things have been going swimmingly for the Chinese player since that previous double through Ivan Leow with queens versus tens earlier. The two have clashed in a couple of hands that Wang won to seize the lead, but some of these have just gone the way of Wenling Gao.
The two got all the chips in on the turn after Wang defended his big blind against a Gao late position open, though we are unsure on the exact betting. The community cards were spread and the two got into a raising war that saw all the chips go in.
Wenling Gao:
Yang Wang:
Gao was at-risk but in front and while Wang thought he had got lucky on the river spiking two-pair, this gave Gao the nut flush and she doubled while Wang dropped some of his recently acquired chips.
All that action brought the final table to a 10-minute break and here's how they are stacking up:
Ivan Leow opened the action on the button with a raise to 35,000 with Albert Paik making the call from the big blind. The flop came down and was checked by both players, as was the turn. Paik led the river for 60,000 and Leow slid his cards into the muck.
Albert Paik won a small pot off Wenling Gao after defending his big blind to her under-the-gun min raise. The flop came down and the action went check, check. The turn saw Paik check again, Gao bet 38,000 and Paik make the call. The river saw the action go check, check and Paik took it down with for two pair.
Then a huge hand played out between Yang Wang and Ivan Leow. It was Chihwen Chen who lit the fuse with an under-the-gun min-raise. Ivan Leow then juiced it up to 100,000 from one seat over, Yang Wang shoved, Chen folded and Leow called instantly.
Yang Wang:
Ivan Leow:
Wang looked chuffed to be in front and looked a great deal happier after the flop, which gave both players a set. The turn and river ran out and respectively to give Wang the double.
Yang Wang had been reduced to 117,000 after several orbits with no hands, and the Chinese player got this in from the cutoff. Big blind Chihwen Chen asked for a count and decided to try and thin the field, sliding out the call.
Yang Wang:
Chihwen Chen:
Wang was at-risk and behind, until the flop which gave him a pair and saw him take the lead in the hand, a fact he celebrated by jumping out of his seat with an ecstatic cry of "Yes!"
The turn gave Wang trips, and it was as well it did, as the came in on the river to give Chen a pair of nines. Wang doubled to 240,000 after that timely catch, while Chen fell to 307,000.
