Two Pair No Good For Wang

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

Picking up the action on a {7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop, Ye Wang checked from the small blind seat, followed by Hongjun Zhao in the cutoff. Chung Yuan Yu was on the button and led for 1,500, which got a call from both players.

The {8-Spades} turn hit the felt and inspired no betting, so after three checks the dealer laid the {2-Diamonds} river. Now Wang took the betting lead for 1,500, and Zhao let his hand go. Yu made the call though, and Wang showed his {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} had rivered two pair. That was still no good, however, as Yu had {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped top pair that turned a higher two pair.

Wang dips a little to 78,000, while Yu increases to 64,000.

Leow Applies the Pressure

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante
Ivan Leow
Ivan Leow

An aggressive play from Ivan Leow has just seen the Malaysian's stack increase to 88,000.

Chung Yuan Yu opened from early position to 1,300 only for Phachara Wongwichit to instantly three-bet to 3,700 one seat over. It folded to Leow in the big blind and he made the call, while Yu let his hand go.

The two went to a {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop and Leow check-called a 4,000 c-bet. That took them to the {q-Diamonds} turn, but both checked to see a free river. That would be the {8-Spades} and now Leow quickly led out for 15,000. Wongwichit was forced into the tank and remained there for a good couple of minutes before ultimately folding.

Leow turned over {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for just a pair of sevens to go with the queens on board.

Field Still Growing

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante
Thailand #1: Phanlert Sukonthachartnant
Thailand #1: Phanlert Sukonthachartnant

There have been more late arrivals with Thailand's most successful tournament player Phanlert Sukonthachartnant just one of the new faces. In addition to having one of the longest names in poker, Sukonthachartnant is also a seasoned hand when it comes to cashing in Macau-based high roller tournaments with the vast majority of his US$1.25M in live tournament winnings coming in the former Portuguese Enclave.

Joining Sukonthachartnant at the tables is China's Canlin Chen, Yunsheng Sun, and Chinwen Chen, and the USA's Albert Paik to bring the number of entries up to 27, with 24 of these still in action.

Wang Takes the Lead

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante
Yang Wang
Yang Wang

We have a new chip leader. Yang Wang is now up to 119,000.

Action folded to Fabian Spielmann on the button and he opened to 1,200. Wang was his only called from the small blind, and the two saw a {5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop hit the felt. Both checked.

The turn was the {a-Hearts} and now Wang check-called a delayed 2,000 c-bet, bringing the {6-Spades} river. Wang now seized the betting lead, leading into the aggressor for 5,500. Spielmann quickly called, and when Wang turned over his {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a rivered two pair Spielmann mucked with frustration.

He's down to 39,500 after that one.

Zhang Bets It All

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

We heard an all-in called so rushed over to see what was up. It turned out Jiaming Zhang had jammed for 30,000 into a 30,000 pot after Yia Qing Ji checked to him on an {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board. Ji gave it plenty of thought but let it go, and when he did Zhang showed the {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for two pair.

Yu Outflops Sukonthachartnant, Wang Folds Out Spielmann

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Chun Yuan Yu
Chun Yuan Yu

Phanlert Sukonthchartnant and Chung Yuan Yu have a history, with the Taiwanese player besting the Thai player heads-up in the 2017 Poker King Cup High Roller Event last May.

The two are clearly familiar with each other's playing style and we caught the pair in action not long after Sukonthchartnant had taken his seat.

It was the Thai player driving the action with an open to 1,200 in the cutoff, with Yu making the call on the button to take play heads-up to a flop of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Sukonthachartnant continuation-bet 1,500 and Yu made a quick call to bring in the {6-Hearts} turn.

This saw Sukonthachartnant fire a second barrel of 3,200, which Yu called once again and it was off to the {2-Diamonds} river. Neither player liked it and the action went check, check. Sukonthachartnant flipped over {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} but pushed his cards into the muck when Yu rolled over {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} to take the hand.

We caught the tail end of yet another pot being played between Fabian Spielmann and Yang Wang over on the other table immediately after this, picking up the action on the river with the community cards spread {6-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Spielmann (mid-position) was facing a Wang bet of 13,800, which looked to be close to two-thirds pot.

Spielmann looked sorely tempted but eventually decided to wait for a better spot, asking Wang to show as he folded, though the Chinese player declined as he raked in yet another.

Zhou vs Spielmann vs Wang

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

There seems to be a little rivalry building between Steven Zhou, Fabian Spielmann, and Yang Wang, all of whom are sat right next to each other.

Action folded to Zhou on the button and he opened to 1,500. Spielmann then three-bet to 5,000 from the small blind, only for Wang to four-bet to 16,000 out of the big. After two folds, Wang raked in the chips.

The next hand saw a three-way pot between Zhou and Wang, with Jichong Lei thrown into the mix. There was a {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop out there when the hand grabbed our attention, and with some chips already out there Wang moved all-in to put both the short stacks at risk. Lei got out the way, but Zhou snap-called for 18,875.

Yang Wang: {8-Spades}{9-Spades}
Steven Zhou: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Wang had the best of it with a pair of nines but Zhou had an open ender. The {5-Clubs} turn didn't help him, but the {k-Clubs} sure did. With a straight, Zhou got the double up.

Spielmann Down, Rabotkin Up

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Dmitry Rabotkin and Fabian Spielmann just tangled in a pot which has left the latter with just 7,000.

The board showed {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and when we arrived Spielmann had a bet of 10,000 in front of him. The problem was that Rabotkin had a bet of 25,000 in front of him, and Spielmann had just 7,000 behind.

After some time in the tank, a visibly frustrated Spielmann threw his cards into the muck. He's down in the dangerzone, while Rabotkin is up to 83,000.
