Play Intentions

Day two is always a tough day when it comes to tournament poker . . . and today is no exception.

With the aim to reach the final table, it was always thought to be a long shot when 111 players took to the felt this afternoon.

However after losing four tables over the first four levels of play, and only another seven needed to reach the final table . . . anything is a possibility!

The only downside however is that the average stack is still a whopping 45,000-big blind deep meaning that nearly everyone is well equipped to handle a pot lost here and a bad beat there.

Stay tuned to PokerNews as we countdown to crowning the 2009 Lebanese Poker Champion!

Chow Down

The players are on a 60-minute dinner break. After the chow session, we'll play on until we hit the final table or 4:00am, whichever arrives first.

Ghassan Folds; Ghassan Doubles

We pick up the action in a three-way pot on the turn as the board shows {5-Spades} {3-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. The first two players checked, and Sevag Heybelian put out a bet of 20,000. After a bit of head shaking and sideways glancing, Georges Ghassan check-raised all in for a total of 47,900. Ibrahim Ghassan folded out of the way, and when Heybelian called, it was heads up for the other Ghassan's tournament life.

Showdown
Heybelian: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}
Ghassan: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}

That jack on the turn was the money card for the at-risk Ghassan, putting him in control of his own fate with top set. The river {3-Clubs} filled him up, dodging the two-out ace to double his way up over 120,000.

Eid All In

Raymond Rahme limped into the pot under the gun, and two seats over, Tony Eid moved all in for his last 12,800. Bubble Boy would go deep into the tank for several minutes in late position, but he would eventually duck out of the way. When the bet came back around to Rahme though, he instantly called with the covering stack.

Showdown
Rahme: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}
Eid: {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts}

The board was a big dry desert for the all-in Eid, coming out {9-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {K-Spades} {7-Spades}. Rahme's aces held, earning him the knockout and a chip-up to 69,000.

Sweidy Hooks Hum

George Sweidy

We walked over to Table 1 to see cards on their backs with Georges Sweidy all in. In front of him lay {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, and Baba Hum was looking to send him home with {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}.

Salvation would find Sweidy though as the board ran down {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. Finding his third of a kind, Georges has picked up a crucial double up, working his short stack up to a respectable 32,000. Hum, opn the other hand, has been sliding today. He's down to 65,000, about half of his start-of-day count.
