Eoghan ODs

O'Dea the younger's tournament has just come to an abrupt end. He made his swan song with {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}, but Cristian Caracuta sang slightly louder, his {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} hitting a set on a {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} before surviving a back door spanking on the {2-Spades} turn and {10-Clubs} river.

Swings & Roundabouts

Swings and roundabouts for Francisco Torres Hermoso, the only mustachioed, I believe, player remaining in the field. After more than doubling through off Liam Flood earlier, he missed out on a chance to eliminate Ross Boatman after raising it up preflop. Boatman pushed, and despite umming and ahhing, the Spaniard made the fold, showing pocket sevens in the process. "Good fold," gleamed Boatman as he revealed sixes. "Aaaaah," grunted Hermoso frustratedly.

Boatman on circa 80,000.

When It Rains, It Pours

We couldn't help but notice that Liam Flood's stack seems to have disappeared quicker than he earned it. A brief chat with Ross Boatman and it emerged that Flood had called a raise, and shove, with pocket queens, only to be out-gunned by the {A-?}{K-?} of Francisco Torres Hermoso, despite the initial raiser folding {A-?}{K-?}.

Socko-hit for Bartosz

Nik Persaud has doubled through Bartosz Socko after a simple bit of cooler-age.

Persaud held {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} against {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} and a very unscary boat of {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} meant Persaud has doubled up to 200,000.

Paint it Black

As the action folded round to the button, Sean van Slujis (yes, genuine name) made a standard raise, only for Steve King to shove all in from the small blind. He may only have had {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, but it seemed like a good spot, that was until Andy Black woke up with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} in the big blind.

"The seven-three of hearts!" exclaimed Black after van Slujis had folded. "Holy s**t, we're not going to be ****ing happy if we lose this one."

"You've got one of my outs," smirked King pointing to the king of hearts.

As Black magnetised the crowd towards him in his usual, entertaining manner, the TV crew bumbled their way over, eager to catch the Mad Monk in action.

After the inveitable pause, the T.D. announced the hands, much to the chuckle of the room, and the flop was dealt: {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Black grimaced as if chewing on a lemon.

When a {9-Hearts} hit the turn, Black grimaced yet again, this time as if a wasp had landed on that lemon.

Then the river: the {J-Hearts}. The crowd gasped as if Elvis had entered the room, and Black could only look on in shock. "Oh my God," he sighed.

Consequently, we lose the former WSOP finalist, the charismatic Andy Black succumbing to the might of seven-three suited. King, meanwhile, is now shining after using up a year's worth of good fortune in one hand.

Bad News Brits

Stu Rutter has douled up Christian Caracuta after the latter won a flip with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} against {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} on a {A-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} board.

Meanwhile Keith "The Camel" Hawkins is smarting after losing a huge 140,000 pot when he called Bharminde Maker's push with {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} and lost to {7-Clubs} {6-Clubs} after the board came {10-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {8-Hearts}.

The Camel will be spitting now...

The Sole Survivor Dynamic

Paddypower have a special promotion on during the tournament for all their qualifiers. There's currently 7 left and the very last one still in will net a cool €100,000 as a result.

Therefore the tournament is going to get very interesting on tables when there's only three or four of them left. Neil Channing offered his view, "Don't raise the qualifier's blind, just reraise the guy trying to steal his blind!"

Power Poker

It's not the size of the stack, but what you do with it that matters (well, that's why my Mrs. tells me anyway). Having raised it up to 10,500 from the cut-off, Stuart Rutter was reraised by Peter Murphy in the big blind, who then snap-folded to a four-bet from Rutter. Feel his power!

Some Robbin' From Sherwood?

Nik Persaud opened from late position and Rob Sherwood called behind with Eoghan O'Dea also calling in the big blind.

All three players checked the {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {Q-Clubs} flop and then also the {J-Clubs} turn. O'Dea and Persaud then checked the {7-Hearts} river and Sherwood bet 16,000, the other two mucked instantly.

Fear and Apprehension

"Easy decision," smiled Adrian O’Donoghue as he pushed in his paltry stack from the small blind. "I've only looked at one card," confessed Liam Flood as he made the call. "I haven't looked at either," replied O'Donoghue.

But there was skepticism in the crowd as Donoghue flipped the {K-Clubs} followed by the {K-Spades}, the cowboys ready to shoot down Flood's dominated {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} at point range.

But even against overcards, you can see the fear and apprehension in the eyes of the players as they lock horns with the seemingly invincible Flood. However, and despite pairing the flop, Flood couldn't squirm his way out of this one, the board coming {4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} to award Donaghue the pot.
