An Early Double for Magnus

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Nadya Magnus on Day 1a
Nadya Magnus on Day 1a

A player limped from early position and Ben Keeline responded with a raise to 300 from the cutoff. The players on the button and small blind both called before Nadya Magnus three-bet to 1,600 from the button. The early-position limper then woke up with a check-raise to 6,800 and action folded back to Magnus, who just called.

On the {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop, Magnus checked and her opponent bet 10,000. Magnus then sprung to life with a check-raise of her own, making it 21,000 to go, and she called when her opponent moved all in for just a bit more.

Nadya Magnus: {a-}{a-}
Opponent: {j-}{j-}

Both players held overpairs but the aces of Magnus were best. Neither the {8-Spades} turn nor {a-Diamonds} river harmed Magnus and she doubled to 60K.

Reynolds Takes from Vang

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Mike Reynolds
Mike Reynolds

From early position, a player raised to 200 and was re-raised to 2,000 by Kou Vang from the hijack. The action folded to Mike Reynolds who made the call from the small blind. All other players folded leaving the action heads up headed to the flop.

Reynold "checked dark" prior to a flop of {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Vang bet 1,500 and Reynolds made the call.

The {q-Hearts} on the turn led to both players checking.

Reynold then chose to bet 3,000 on the river prior to the final card being revealed. After the dealer completed the board with the {2-Spades}, Vang made the call. Reynolds turned over {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Vang mucked.

Hankin Ain't Got Shit

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Howard Hankin
Howard Hankin

The world's rarest gem is believed to be painite, the Rafflesia arnoldi Flower is near impossible to find, and good luck ever cracking open a Tasmanian Giant Crab. However, as rare as all those things may be, a Howard Hankin bluff eclipses them all in scarcity. However, this is 2020, and crazy things happen.

After two limps and a raise to 400 from Amanda Heidbrick in middle position, Hankin called next to act. Action folded back around to the under-the-gun limper, who folded, and then the UTG+1 limper called to make it three-way action to the {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop.

The UTG+1 player checked, Heidbrick continued for 1,500, and Hankin called. The other player folded and it was heads-up action to the {a-Hearts} turn.

Heidbrick check-called a bet of 1,600 from Hankin and the {9-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Heidbrick for the second time and Hankin fired out 2,800. That did the trick as Hankin's opponent folded.

"I ain't got shit," said Hankins, who qualified for this tournament via last night's satellite. He then showed the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a semi-bluff that turned into a pair of nines.

After the under-the-gun player raised, the player on his direct left called as did Adam Thomas from middle position and the button. The small blind then raised to 1,600 causing everyone to fold except Thomas who made the call.

On a flop of {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, the small blind player bet 2,100 and was called by Thomas.

On the {a-Hearts} turn, the small blind player again led out, this time for 5,000. Thomas opted to re-raise to 13,000. After a few moments, his opponent released his hand, bringing the chips to Thomas.
