Blinds: 1,000/1,500
Ante: 1,500
After six levels of play, the field has reached 50 entries and there are 34 players remaining as they head into the final 15-minute break of the evening. Another two levels of 60 minutes each are scheduled for the first of three starting days.
Jay Kamli raised to 3,000 and was called only by Shaun Govender in the big blind. They checked the J♥9♠2♥ flop to the 7♣ turn on which Govender bet 3,000 and Kamli called. Govender also bet the 4♠ river for 10,500 to get called and his J♠9♣ for the top two pair won the pot, as Kamli mucked the 7♠.
Luqman A limped in from under the gun and Sugen Singh raised to 5,500 which Jay Kamli called out of the big blind. Luqman A then raised to 25,000 and Singh folded whereas Kamli called.
On the J♠9♥5♣ flop, Kamli bet 25,000 to pick up a flat call and the action repeated on the K♦ turn. After the 9♠ river, Kamli checked and Luqman A bet 46,000 with few chips behind. As soon as Kamli called, Singh said "you have aces" and that's what Luqman revealed with the A♥A♠.
Two hands later, Singh received a walk and showed ... pocket aces.
With the turn reading 9♠7♦7♣5♦, Moussa Soililti had checked to Shaun Govender who pushed all-in for 34,900. Soililti asked for a count and then tossed a card towards the dealer after which Sugen Singh in the cutoff said "i folded a full house, nine seven".
It was not the cards that Soililti had folded, though, but one of the time bank cards.
"Good info," he joked and then folded shortly after.
Moments later, Banks Solomons was knocked out by Todd Hellyar on the next table.
Mark Da Matta had been down to only around 14 big blinds not that long ago and he just got it in preflop for 127,500 against Muhammad Yasir from under the gun.
Mark Da Matta: A♥A♠
Muhammad Yasir: J♦J♣
The aces held on a board of 10♣9♥2♣10♥2♠ and Da Matta jumped to one of the larger stacks in the room.
Out of a field of 65 entries, only ten players remain in the APC $3,000 High Roller. They are competing for their share of the $163,800 prize pool and the winner can look forward to a top prize of $56,000.
In the meanwhile, Day 1a of the Main Event remains at 49 entries with 35 players still in contention.
Raphael Bsiri bet the 8♠2♠2♥J♣ turn for 11,500 to get called by Rajeev Poonhath and then bet another 15,000 on the A♠ river. Once Poonhath called, Bsiri instantly sent his cards into the muck.
Shortly after on the same table, Craig Hartland made a move and jammed for 55,800. Daniel van der Berg reshoved and Poonhath got out of the way.
Craig Hartland: 9♥5♦
Daniel van der Berg: A♥Q♥
Neither player connected with the K♦8♦3♠2♣10♥ board and the ace-queen high was enough to score the knockout.
Biru Asefa and Shaun Govender have entered Day 1a which is now up to 49 entries and some 36 players remaining.
In the meanwhile, Menesh Keshav bet the K♠3♠2♥9♦ turn for 10,500 to get called by Jay Kamli and then upped his sizing to 35,000 on the 8♥ river. Kamli folded and Keshav flashed the K♥ before collecting the pot.
