Franco Da Matta raised to 17,000 and then called a three-bet by Steven Radloff on the button to 52,000, both blinds folded. On a flop of Q♠7♣4♠, Da Matta checked before he folded to a bet of 35,000.
"No bluff," Radloff said in the table chat.
"You had kings? Again?" Da Matta inquired but neither player revealed any further info about their hand.
The turn showed the Q♥10♦2♥3♠ and Marko Nortje checked to Shazin Rehmtullah who bet 55,000 with some 140,000 behind. Nortje said "show me ace queen, that's the only thing I want to see".
He even offered to show both of his cards in return before he let go. Nortje then flipped over his A♠K♥ and got to pick one of Rehmtullah's cards, which was the K♦.
Five ways to the 6♣3♥2♥ flop, the action checked to Tome Dinh in the cutoff and he bet 50,000. Tutu Russon called in the small blind and the other three players folded.
The 4♣ turn was checked to the 7♥ river on which Russon checked again. Dinh bet 125,000 to force a very reluctant fold from Russon and then flashed his Q♠J♣ for a successful bluff.
Daniel Scott had been nursing a short stack and then got it in preflop with the best of it against Mattia Festa.
Daniel Scott: Q♠Q♦
Mattia Festa: J♥J♣
Not one but both of the remaining jacks came on the K♦J♠2♥J♦9♣ runout to send Scott to the rail.
Level: 17
Blinds: 4,000/8,000
Ante: 8,000
Xianbin Li opened to 20,000 and Alvin Pillay then jammed for 170,000 on seat over in the hijack. Reagan Naidoo pushed all-in from the button and Li sighed, then said "I fold" while Maria Cardoso in the big blind had not folded yet. That came a few hands later and Li slid his cards to Costa Giannakopoulos to see prior to the all-in showdown.
Alvin Pillay: 5♠5♣
Reagan Naidoo: A♦A♥
The J♥4♦4♠8♦8♥ board changed nothing and sent Pillay to the rail.
At the same time on neighbouring tables, there was betting action that ultimately concluded without showdown.
Anjan Mulji check-jammed for 315,000 on the J♣10♥6♠ into a bet of 75,000 by Jam Kamli. The latter used two time banks and folded.
Mark Tao then bet the Q♣10♠9♦ flop for 55,000 and Cliton Taliwanth called. Tao bet the 4♣ turn for 75,000 and Taliwanth needed one time bank before he folded, too.
Raza Tahora and Ivan Govorov were eliminated and the next player to move all-in was Hongbin Du. His simple three-bet shove for nearly 60 big blinds got through fellow countryman Xianbin Li, who mucked the A♦. Du smashed the 4♣4♥ on the felt.
A preflop raising war got the chips into the middle between Menesh Keshav and Panayiotis Giannakopoulos with the table image of the latter certainly contributing to the preflop showdown.
Menesh Keshav: Q♠Q♥
Panayiotis Giannakopoulos: K♥K♣
There was no upset on the 9♦9♥6♥9♣4♦ board and Giannakopoulos jum ped into the top spot. His two nearest followers Tome Dinh and Tutu Russon are right next to him.
Half of the level has been played since the break and the average is at a staggering 87 big blinds while the top 32 spots in the money still remain a distinct idea of the future.
Daniel Scott was one of the shorter stacks coming back from the break and just got a shove through on the Q♠9♣4♦ flop for 80,000, as Alfred Magani bet-folded for 13,000.
The only other player to bust was Muaaz Gani, which brought the field down to the last 48 hopefuls across six tables.
