One lucky player will get to follow in the proud state poker tradition and call themselves a champion when Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland hosts the Maryland State Poker Championship sponsored by PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel over the next week.
The first of three starting flights into the $1,700 Main Event gets underway at 11:15 a.m. local time. Players will begin with a 40,000 starting stack, and levels will be 40 minutes on each Day 1 flight. Late registration is open for the first nine levels, with unlimited reentries available.
There are two more starting flights to come. Day 1b is tomorrow at 11:15 a.m., while Day 1c takes place on September 5. Each flight plays down to the final 12.5 percent of the field. All surviving players from the three flights then combine for Day 2 on September 6 at 11:15 a.m., having already locked up a piece of the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Lucas Vergara won this event last year, beating out a field of 228 players to earn $113,000. Justin Liberto and Nicholas Verderamo also made the final table, while Justin Arnwine, Aaron Pinson, and Lara Eisenberg were among those who finished in the money.
