Schwartz Learns a New Word

"Tapis!"
"Tapis!"
The under-the-gun player limped in, and action passed around to the player on the button, who raised it up 4,300. The small blind folded, and the decision was on Noah Schwartz who moved all in from the big blind.

"I'm tapis-ing," he said, moving all in in his best French-English. "How do you like that? Tapis! Tapis!"

The limper folded, and the button player nodded and moved his whole stack forward. With the betting action complete, the two men turned their hands over, and it was Schwartz's {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} versus his opponent's {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. "Oh, you're sneaky, tapis," said Schwartz, seeing the strong possibility of a split pot. Indeed, the board ran out dry for both players, and the pot was split.

The original limper had folded {A-Spades} {2-Spades}, and would have made the winning nut flush had he played. "Oh, good thing you folded," said Schwartz with a smile. "You would have tapis-ed us both!"
