Clarke Makes a Tough Call

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Patrick Clarke was tanking in the cutoff after a player on the button bet 9,000 on a {3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades} board. Clarke called, and the river was an {8-Clubs}. Clarke checked and his opponent moved in for 15,525, while Clarke had only about 10,000 left. He tanked for a couple of minutes and called.

"Good call," his opponent said.

Clarke showed {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The dealer flipped over his opponent's mucked cards: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Timothy Ulmer joined the tournament. He's coming off an eighth-place finish at this year's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Yunis Busts Schanbacher

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante
Jack Schanbacher
Jack Schanbacher

Mark Kroon raised on the button and got calls from both blinds, who all saw a flop of {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Action checked to Kroon, and he bet 2,025. Nick Yunis called, and Jack Schanbacher shoved for 15,725. Both opponents called, and they checked through the {q-Clubs} turn to see the {j-Diamonds}. Yunis shoved all in at that point for 23,750, and Kroon mucked after shaking his head.

Yunis showed {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flush and Schanbacher, who was already on bullet No. 2, couldn't beat it.

A Pot to Yunis Before Break

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Nick Yunis limped under the gun and called 1,500 from small blind Nacho Barbero. Yunis called barrels of 1,400 on the {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop and 3,400 on the {j-Spades} turn. He folded to a bet on the {j-Diamonds} river.

Players are on break for 15 minutes.

Fleischer Fades Two Outs

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Terry Fleischer moved all in for 20,000 effective from under the gun after a player in middle position bet 2,000 on a {7-Spades}{k-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts} board. His opponent tanked a bit and exchanged some talk with Fleischer before reluctantly calling it off.

Fleischer: {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Fleischer was way ahead, and though paint hit the river, it was the {k-Spades}, improving him to a boat.

Yunis Coolers Bonacci

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

We found big blind Nick Yunis with a bet of 3,000 in front of him on an {8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop. Frank Bonacci was in early position and raised to 8,100, and Yunis came back with 15,400. Bonacci shoved all in for 29,225. Yunis called.

Yunis: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Bonacci: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Set over set, and no miracle eight arrived as the {k-Hearts} turn was followed by an {a-Diamonds} river. Bonacci was left with 25 in chips and busted.
