Burford Doubles through James

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Mark Burford
Mark Burford

The action folded to Greg James in middle position and he raised to 26,000. Mark "Milkman" Burford, next-to-act, moved all in for 107,000. The action folded back to James and he snap-called.

Burford - {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
James - {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

"Can you believe it?" asked Burford.

The hand was all but over on the flop when it came {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}, giving Burford a set. The {4-Diamonds} came on the turn, opening the possibility of a chop, but instead James improved to a set of jacks on the river when the {j-Diamonds} hit the felt.

Pej Preemo Eliminated

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Jeff Wyatt says he doubled through Pej Preemo to get about 300,000 chips from him and then Lee Henry finished him off by going runner-runner for a flush.

Preemo flopped a set of kings against Henry, but Henry won the hand with running clubs to eliminate Preemo shortly after Wyatt doubled through him.

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Terry Griffith
Terry Griffith

Terry Griffith shoved on the button for 36,000 on the first hand of hand-for-hand play.

Derwin Lewis was in the big blind and called. All the action completed at the other tables and this was the only all in and call.

Lewis had {k-Spades}{9-Spades} against the {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} of Griffith.

The board ran out {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Lewis won the hand to eliminate Griffith.

Griffith was the 118th-place finisher and he finished on the stone bubble.

Roy Hill Moving Up

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Roy Hill of Benton, Louisiana, has been chipping up steadily through the day and now sits among the leaders. In his latest victory, Hill added another 50,000 to his stack and now has 498,000.

An early position player limped for 8,000 and the small blind completed. Hill checked his option in the big blind and the three players saw a flop of {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. The blinds checked and the third player bet out 12,000. The small blind folded and Hill called.

It went heads up to the turn, which came {k-Clubs}. Hill checked and his opponent bet 12,000. Hill called.

The river completed the board with the {2-Hearts}, and both players checked it down.

Hill's opponent said, "I can't beat ya," and tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

Hill turned over {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for top pair to collect the pot.
