Papazian Closes the Gap on Stokkan

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

With hand-for-hand play currently in progress, the action had been rather slow until Alexandru Papazian and Preben Stokkan collided. Papazian raised to 350,000 from the cutoff and Stokkan defended his big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Stokkan check-called a bet of 325,000 from Papazian.

The {4-Clubs} hit the turn and Stokkan checked again. Papazian fired 1.49 million and Stokkan called. The river landed the {a-Hearts} and Stokkan checked for the third time. Papazian reached back for a bet of 2.58 million and Stokkan instantly called. Papazian tabled {q-Clubs}{8-Spades} for two pair and Stokkan sent his cards to the muck.

Sontheimer Spikes an Ace to Double Up

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

The action folded to Steffen Sontheimer on the button who pushed all in for 2.32 million. Sergio Aido was in the big blind and instantly made the call. When the cards were tabled, it was Aido in the lead with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} against Sontheimer's {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Sontheimer jumped out front with a pair of aces. The {6-Clubs} on the turn and the {6-Hearts} on the river changed nothing and Sontheimer doubled through Aido.
