Day 1 Completed

Michael Addamo Leads the partypoker MILLION North America $10,300 High Roller!

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Day 1 of the partypoker MILLION North America $10,300 High Roller is in the books and it is Michael Addamo who's in the lead with 387,400 in chips. Addamo hails from Australia, and is coming fresh off of a High Roller win just last month on his home turf. He also boasts just over $900,000 in live recorded cashes and has a third-place finish in a $1,500 event at the Word Series of Poker for a six-figure payday.

The day began with just seven players but quickly grew to 46 entries including reentries. A total of 25 players made it through, with the potential for this number to grow as the registration is open till the start of play on Day 2. The guarantee of $500,000 has not been met, it requires another 4 players to get there.

From the start of the tournament, Addamo's stack kept growing and he never really looked back. He doubled up and then eliminated Vojtech Ruzicka, partypoker MILLION Nottingham's High Roller winner, and coasted through the last couple of levels from there. The next biggest stack belongs to Vishal Singh Maini (365,600), and third in chips is none other than Canada's Sorel Mizzi (315,300).

Four women entered the tournament and every single one of them is still in and on one bullet each. At one point, three out of four of them were on the same table. Cate Hall (230,800), Maria Ho (216,300), Kristen Bicknell (148,300), and Xuan Liu (68,800) are all looking to win their first High Roller tournament and continue the trend of women winning titles in 2017, and beyond, of course.

While all players in this tournament are considered "notable" in their own right, some of the more familiar faces continuing on to Day 2 include president of partypoker LIVE, John Duthie (133,800), Roberto Romanello (258,400), Jonathan Duhamel (221,200), Niall Farrell (144,000), Jason Koon (77,500), Mike 'Timex' McDonald (55,800), and Pascal Lefrancois (35,500).

Some of the players who took a shot but didn't make it through include Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Ankush Mandavia, Seth Davies, Jonathan Jaffe, and Ari Engel. With registration open until the end of the first level tomorrow, it would be no surprise if some, if not all, of these players fire again.

Blinds will roll back to the beginning of Level 9 tomorrow at 1,500/3,000 and a 500 ante. Registration will be open until the end of the first level of the day, closing promptly at 1:45 p.m. local time. Cards will be in the air at 1:00 p.m. and the tournament will complete as soon as a winner is crowned.

Keep following along as PokerNews brings you updates on the action throughout the rest of the series!

Last Few Minutes of the Night

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

The remaining players will be preparing to bag their chips to head to Day 2 tomorrow.

Stay tuned for an update on the top stacks, with a full recap available later tonight.

Radoja Races to Double Up

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Mark Radoja
Mark Radoja

Mark Radoja was all in before the flop and was called by Francois Safieddine.

It was another flip, with Radoja holding {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Safieddine tabling two black eights.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Radoja took the lead with a pair of jacks. The turn was the {4-Spades} and the river was the {6-Clubs}, giving Radoja the double up he was looking for towards the end of the night.

Perrault Doubles With Deuces

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault was all in for about 85,000 preflop and Mike McDonald gave him action.

It was a classic flip, with Perrault holding two red deuces and McDonald tabling {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

Perrault's future looked grim when the flop came {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and he started to stand up. The turn, however, gave him new life when the {2-Clubs} hit. The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Perraut locked up the double.

Vojtech Ruzicka Survives

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Vojtech Ruzicka started the day by eliminating the first player in this tournament, but dwindled down to a stack of less than ten big blinds.

Michael Addamo raised from the cutoff and Ruzicka shoved for 37,500 on the button. Addamo called.

Ruzicka tabled {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} while Addamo held {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Ruznicka survives to see another hand!

The Super High Roller is Back!

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Jason Koon, the man with almost $9 million in live recorded cashes and four high roller titles, is back in action after being eliminated just a few moments ago.

Koon is certainly a fan of Montreal, as his only two cashes in Canada are at the Playground Poker Club. The day is winding down, so look for Koon to make some moves and pad his chip stack before the day is done.

Koon Gets Coolered to Bust Out

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Peter Jetten raised to 8,000 from the cutoff and action was now on Alexander Turyansky on the button. Before he could act, Jason Koon moved all in from the small blind.

Turyansky asked what his options were, and if the action would change should he call or raise. The dealer confirmed that if he called, Koon's all in bet would stand. If he raised, Koon's all in bet would not stand.

Eventually, Turyansky just called. "Whomp whomp", said Koon with a smile on his face, as he moved his 60,000 chips in the middle.

Jetten folded and Turyansky called. "I've got tens. I've got a great hand", said Koon. To his disappointment, Turyansky tabled pocket jacks. The board ran out dry and Koon was eliminated.

Marc-Andre Ladouceur Eliminated by Vishal Singh Maini

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Marc-Andre Ladouceur
Marc-Andre Ladouceur

Over at Marc-Andre Ladouceur's table there were heaps of chips in the middle and Vishal Singh Maini was all in, putting Ladouceur to the test for his remaining chips.

After going into the tank, Ladouceur decided to call.

Maini tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} for top pair, top kicker and Ladouceur disappointingly mucked his cards and headed for the rail.
