Nevanlinna Sets Corbett Aside

Level 22 : 4,000/8,000, 800 ante

Jussi Nevanlinna is well known in the poker industry for his PLO prowess, but he's off to a great start in the parrtypokerLIVE MILLIONS Main Event. After eliminating a dangerous player in Daniel Corbett, he's even better placed to make a deep run.

Nevanlinna won a flip to bust Corbett, as the latter was committed and at risk for his entire stack pre-flop with {A-Spades}{10-Spades}. Nevanlinna held {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and he was home and dry very early on the {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{3-Hearts} board.

Straight Flush Takes the Cake

Level 22 : 4,000/8,000, 800 ante

The former Irish Open-winner Ian Simpson put out a bet of 77,000 from the big blind on a board reading {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Vahid Ahirzamari in the very next seat made the call, as did Raphael Ajayi in the small blind. The river came {9-Hearts}, and when Ajayi checked his option, Simpson cut out 205,000 chips and slid them over the line. Amirzahari thought about it for a minute or so before announcing all-in for 606,400 total, Ajayi got out of the way and Simpson made the call.

Simpson revealed {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the nut flush, but that was peanuts compared to the {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} of Amirzahari that completed a straight flush on the river.

Houghton Hustled

Level 22 : 4,000/8,000, 800 ante

Kevin Houghton opened to 15,000 from first position and got two calls, one from middle position and the other from the player in the big blind.

On the flop of {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Houghton c-bet 40,000 and again got two calls. The turn card of {8-Spades} saw him bet 60,000 and this time only the player in middle position called. The river of {4-Diamonds} saw Houghton move all-in, but he was snap-called...and his opponent showed {6-Clubs}{5-Spades} for the rivered straight. Houghton open-mucked {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and was out of the door.

"He must have brought his crystal ball." he gave us after the hand.

Spades in Spades: Sexton Sent Out

Level 22 : 4,000/8,000, 800 ante

Legendary World Poker Tour commentator Mike Sexton was no longer in his seat, and tablemate Ronni Borg had no problem retelling the tale.

Two players limped, as did Sexton in the cutoff, and each of them made the call when Sweden's Johannes Korsar squeezed the button. The flop came down {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}, and when checked to, Korsar fired another bullet. Sexton raised it up, Korsar moved in and the American quickly called having flopped the flush with {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}.

Korsar was holding {A-Spades}{10-} and looked for a spade to make him the better flush, and it came already on the turn. The river was yet another spade, and Korsar dragged the pot while Sexton hit the rail.

In other news two High Roller participants have hit the rail: Jason Wheeler and Stuart Fox.

Anthony Gardner Finds Miracle King

Level 23 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Anthony Gardner

No more than a month ago the former professional footballer Anthony Gardner (of Tottenham Hotspur fame) secured his first live poker title, as he won the £100,000 guaranteed DTD200 right here at Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham. He's looking to secure yet another scalp at this partypoker Live Millions Main Event, but he needed a very lucky king on the river to keep his dreams of an encore intact.

On a {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{K-Spades} flop Gardner bet 65,000, opponent Karol Radomski made it 165,000 to go before Gardner moved all-in for around 400,000. Radomski instantly called with {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, and they were a mile or two ahead of Gardner's {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The {6-Hearts} turn changed nothing, but just as Gardner got up from his seat, the dealer burned and turned the {K-Clubs} to complete the board.

Gardner looked utterly disgusted with himself but did sink back into his seat as the pot was pushed towards him.

Kitty Kuo Lives to Fight Another Day

Level 23 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Kitty Kuo made it 30,000 to go from the cutoff and matched the reraise of 76,000 from Usman Siddique on the button. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Kitty Kuo check-raised Siddique's bet of 62,000 to 140,000 total. Siddique called.

Kuo slowed down again on the {7-Hearts} turn, but still called when Siddique fired 190,000. She wouldn't play along when Siddique emptied the clip for 422,400 on the {8-Spades} river, and folded to preserve her remaining 800,000 chips.

Watts Busted in Massive Pot

Level 23 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Steve Watts told us about his exit hand after getting into a raising war against his eventual conqueror.

"We'd been going at each other, but he bet 30,000 on the flop of {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades}. I raised to 90,000, he made it 220,000 and when I shoved he called. I had {Q-}{10-} and he had {J-}{9-}. He hit the king on the turn. There was 1.5million in the pot."

An inglorious end for Watts, but he has the option of a single re-entry on the day, or even a late registration early on tomorrow's Day 2.

Eames and Clark

Level 23 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

John Eames and Jon Clark aren't just sharing the table, but a few feet of space, sitting right next to each other in the Dusk Till Dawn marquee.

In what was a very big pot already, 700,000 sat in the middle on a board of {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs} . Eames bet 360,000 and that was enough to get Jon Clark to lay it down. In what was a crucial pot, can Eames reverse the seating power and take advantage of it against another talented player in Jon Clark?
