Hoog Bows Out to Luca

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The pots are getting bigger, and many aces head into showdown before crashing right into a big pocket pair. The latest hand was no different, as Jesper Hoog and Ivan Luca went at it. The raising war created a pot of 8,000,000 chips and put Hoog at risk of elimination.

Jesper Hoog: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Ivan Luca: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The board came {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Hoog failed to get there, a quick count of the stacks revealed more than 4,400,000 for Luca and Hoog was covered to join the rail.

Dzmitry Urbanovich has doubled up after moving all-in on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} . While his opponent had hit top pair with {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, Dzmitry Urbanovich held {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} and managed to hold through the {10-Hearts} turn and {7-Clubs} river to move up to around two million.

Skacel Busts Stenholm

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

After a raise from the small blind by Milan Skacel, [Removed:153] got the remainder of his stack in for what looked like 650,000. Skacel wasted little time before calling and Stenholm had one over card and was looking for plenty of hearts on the board.

[Removed:153]: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Milan Skacel: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board came {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Stenholm was sent to the rail.

Tables are Breaking in the Main Room

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The next two tables in the main room broke and a satellite for the £2,700 8-Max with £1m guaranteed side event moved in, while the below players were eliminated from the Main Event and may very well jump right into the action for the next tournament.

Firaldo Finished: Hero Call Gone Wrong

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Niall Farrell made it 110,000 to go from middle position, and only Lee Wai Kiat in the big blind accepted the price. The flop came down {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and when checked to, Firaldo fired 100,000. Kiat came over the top for 340,000 total, and the Scotsman called.

Kiat's bet of 850,000 on the {8-Spades} turn was also matched before Farrell called off his remaining 1,042,000 on the {2-Clubs} river. Kiat had flopped the gin with {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, and Farrell knocked the table in defeat, revealed the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and proceeded to seemingly scold his holecards for getting him into trouble.

Del Piero Bluffs Greenwood

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Enzo Del Piero made it 210,000 from the hijack pre-flop and was called only by Luc Greenwood on the button.

The flop of {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs} saw Greenwood checked to, so he made it 150,000 to see a turn and Del Piero slowly called. The turn of {3-Diamonds} saw Del Piero bet 375,000 and he got a fold from Greenwood.

Del Piero showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and utter his breath, mentioned the catchphrase of a certain W. Kassouf who shares his table.

"Don't be ashamed, say it with pride!" beamed Kassouf.

Gardner Doubles

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Paul Carr raised to 105,000 and David Wells in the hijack as well as Stephen Foster in the cutoff called. Mark Gardner then shoved for 823,000 in the small blind and Carr took a long time before folding. Wells quickly folded as well, and Foster tossed in a chip for the call.

Mark Gardner: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Stephen Foster: {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Gardner doubled, Foster said "nice hand" and forfeited a portion of his stack to drop just below the current average.

Mateos Eliminates Wheeler: Gets a Compliment

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

A short stacked Jason Wheeler moved all-in for 600,000, and Adrian Mateos made the call two seats over.

Jason Wheeler: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Adrian Mateos: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

"I'm gonna stand up, start walking away - all that jazz. I guarantee you a Queen will come," Jason Wheeler said grinningly, but the {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop offered no help for the American.

Neither did the {8-Hearts} turn or the {7-Clubs} river, and Wheeler's former chips were quickly merged into Mateos' stack.

"It's all good, you're one of the few Spanish guys I like," Wheeler said before shaking hands with Mateos. They exchanged pleasantries, and Wheeler headed for the exit.

Romanello Doubles Twice

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

partypoker Ambassador Roberto Romanello has fought right back into the Day 2 field after doubling up not once but twice here on Day 2.

We don't ave the details of his double-up from 425,000 but Romanello told us that he had {A-}{K-} against {A-}{Q-} and held to go up to 2.1million. He's since dropped back a tiny bit, but still has plenty to continue fighting with.

Romanello is also one of the remaining players with a golden chip in front of him. If he's the last player with one in front of them, he'll win £100,000. What a last longer that is.
