Kurganov Takes out Salter Last Hand Before the Break

The action folded around to Igor Kurganov on the button who made it 850,000 to go. Jack Salter called in the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Salter check and made the call when Kurganov bet 1,500,000. On the {4-Diamonds} turn Salter checked again, Kurganov bet 3,9 million and Salter moved in over the top for 13,8 million. Kurganov instantly called and turned over {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, but though it was ahead of the {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Salter, the Russian still had to fade both a flush- and a straight draw on the river.

The {9-Hearts} on the river was as blank as they get, and Kurganov surged to 50 million chips while eliminating Salter in the process.

Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault open-shoved his last 5,250,000 and Noah Vaillancourt reshoved from two seats over to force folds all around and set up an all-Canadian showdown.

Chidwick Misses the Double Elimination

Stephen Chidwick could have landed a double elimination in one of the last hands before the break, but it wasn't to be. Chidwick made it 800,000 under the gun, Daniel Stanway in the hijack moved in for 4,670,000, and Louis Nyberg moved in over the top for 300,000 more.

The board ran out in favor of Stanway - {3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, putting him close to 15 million. Nyberg managed to win the side pot of a mere 600,000, and tripled up the very next hand, sending him to 2 million chips in the break.

Lampropoulos Doubles Through Yan

In a battle of the blinds, [Removed:17] raised from the small blind and Maria Lampropoulos defended the big blind. On the {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, Yan continued and was called before the young gun from New Zealand then shoved the {Q-Hearts} turn. Lampropoulos called and tabled {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for two pair and a flush draw.

Yan only had queen-nine and needed an off suit five or seven to deal the final blow, however, the {6-Clubs} river even gave Lampropoulos a flush.

Tom Hall raised to 1,060,000 and Fabio Sperling, down to just 1.1m, moved all in to pick up a snap-called by Hall.

Then, Hindocha three-bet shoved the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and initial raiser Christoffer Stahle called with the dominating {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. The board came {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and that reduced the field by another player.

David Peters raised to 850,000 and Xia Ke called on the button before Ben Farrell in the big blind moved all in. Peters folded and Ke asked for a count, which was deemed to be for 4,435,000 in total. Ultimately, Ke called and the cards were turned over.

At no point today has Jack Salter had what one would consider a healthy stack. The British One Drop finalist have been trailing the average stack for the last day and a half, but a lucky double just got Salter some much-needed breathing space.

Salter moved in for 5,180,000 from the cutoff and Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault made the call from the button before both of the blinds folded.

An odd quirk is that three of the seven players have the name Thomas or one of its variations.

Among those to bust recently were Ken Yau, Andrew Seden, Rehman Kassam, Alex Harrison and Sondre Sagstuen. Yau shoved for his last 16 big blinds from under the gun and was called by Moritz Dietrich.

Yau showed pocket sevens and Dietrich took the flip with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, the board ran out {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Dietrich paired his king to eliminate Yau.

Andrew Tuxworth started the day with one of the shorter stacks in the field, but in an impressive turn of events, the Nottingham local have turned it around, and are now sitting on more than double the average stack.

Just now Tuxworth took a stand against the former chipleader, Vicente Delgado, to rake in another pot. On a {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} board Tuxworth bet 600,000 out of the big blind, Delgado made it a cool 2 million before Tuxworth reraised to 5 million. That was enough to take the pot.
