High Rollers Hopping in; Holz Busts Eibinger

Level 12 : 15,000/35,000, 35,000 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

As numbers continue to climb, many of the players now entering are players who have been competing in the high rollers for the past few days, like Sam Greenwood, Dominik Nitsche and Martin Kabrhel.

Two such players just clashed in an all-in pot: Fedor Holz and Matthias Eibinger. The two were flipping with Holz's {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} against Eibinger's {a-}{k-} when we arrived, and the board ran out {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, so Eibinger sent over his 1.4 million.

"That's how you do it, huh?" he said with a slight smile.

Chartier Doubles Through Stammen

Level 10 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Sam Chartier was all in from under the gun for an overbet of 440,000 into 275,000 when we arrived. The board read {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Keven Stammen thought it over under the gun. Eventually, he smiled and said something we couldn't hear before dropping in calling chips and showing {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a pair and a flush draw.

Chartier was ahead with {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} and it stayed that way on the {3-Hearts} river.

Some New, Some Old, Some Bagged and Bold

Level 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The field is growing quickly and starting to get nearer to the $10 million guarantee here in the partypoker 2018 Caribbean Poker Party $5,300 Main Event. Nearly 1,600 entries have been reached as the Day 2b crowd includes a mix of players who have just arrived — like world traveler extraordinaire Ari Engel — players who bagged and deferred Day 2a like Allen Kessler and Brian Hastings and players who have already bagged but are trying to run up big stacks with extra bullets they had in their back pockets.

Nearly 200 Entries Already

Level 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

After some delay — and a brief speech by partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton — play is under way for Day 2b. Already, a robust crowd of about 200 entries has been logged with a hefty line still brewing at registration here at Baha Mar for the Caribbean Poker Party 2018 Main Event.

The final preliminary day has arrived in the partypoker 2018 Caribbean Poker Party $5,300 Main Event.

After three starting days of eight levels apiece and Day 2a, which saw a vast majority of those finding bags taking seats, Day 2b is here and with it will come the end of registration.

Thus far about 1,200 players have committed their $5,000 toward the prize pool, meaning the event is still about 800 entries short of meeting its lofty $10 million guarantee. There will undoubtedly be plenty of entries today as everyone who has busted out over the course of the past days, failing to punch tickets to Day 3, will be looking to get a chance at this juicy and rare opportunity.

That being said, it's looking to be a somewhat slow day to start off as only about 80 players selected Day 2b over Day 2a as their Day 2 of choice. Some of those confirmed for participation include Brian Hastings, Michael Kamran, Tony Ruberto, Adam Owen and Allen Kessler.

The plan for today is to play through 10 levels, with registration remaining open for the first four of those plus the 90-minute dinner break scheduled thereafter. At that point, PokerNews will be able to post final prize pool information.

Until then, stick with us as we post regularly scheduled updates in the partypoker-specific style, starting with the noon kickoff.
