Brammer Soars Ahead of the Pack

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 500 ante

Four players were still in the hand with the board reading {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Lee James checked to Martyn Frey who bet 10,500 into a pot approaching 25,000.

Chris Brammer was next to act and he raised to 60,000. Ben Jackson folded and Frey double-checked how much the bet was before calling.

Brammer turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for the nut straight and Frey mucked. Brammer is now the table boss and here are how the other players at the table line up.

Chip Chop for Johnson and James

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 500 ante
Keith Johnson
Keith Johnson

Keith Johnson once again opened in the cutoff to 2,500 and Lee James defended his big blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Johnson's 2,500 continuation bet was called by James.

On the {q-Spades} turn both players decided to check and the {9-Spades} river was revealed. James checked his option and Johnson shuffled his chips before also opting to check.

James showed {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Johnson turned over {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a friendly split-pot.

The two latest additions to the £5,300 Super High Roller are Martyn Frey and the 2017 MILLIONS UK runner-up Jacob Mulhern. Mulhern finished second to eventual winner Maria Lampropoulos and took home a healthy £650,000 in prize money.

We wait and see whether he will add to that amount today!

Big Hands; Little Action

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 500 ante

Keith Johnson raised to 2,500 and Nicholas Todd three-bet to 7,500 from the button. Johnson called and check-called a bet of 7,000 on the {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop.

The turn {5-Diamonds} was checked by both players and the river brought the {10-Diamonds}. Johnson bet 7,000 and Todd quickly called.

Johnson confidently turned over {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} but that was met by the {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of Todd. Two monster starting hands brought about a pot of only just over twenty big blinds. Plenty of time for action in the coming levels!

Johnson in the Early Action

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 500 ante

The action is underway and Keith Johnson opened to 2,500 in the cutoff. Ben Jackson defended in the big blind and saw a {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop. Johnson continued for 5,000 and Jackson made the call. Both players then checked the {4-Spades} on the turn.

On the {10-Hearts} river, Jackson led 3,500 and Johnson quickly raised to 13,500. Jackson thought for a minute before sliding his hand into the muck.

Leary Takes from Whyte

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 500 ante

James Leary raised to 2,500 on the button and Jamie Whyte defended his big blind. The flop came {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and both players checked. Whyte bet 3,500 on the {3-Spades} turn and Leary called.

The river was the {k-Diamonds} and Whyte bet 10,000. Leary raised quickly to 25,000 and after some consideration Whyte called.

Leary showed {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a rivered two pair and Whyte mucked. Leary moved up to over 120,000, with tablemate Luke Marsh also above starting stack early on Day 1 of the £5,300 Super High Roller.

Welcome to the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships held at Dusk Till Dawn casino in Nottingham. Today sees the first of the big events at the Championships, the £5,300 Super High Roller.

The tournament is the biggest since last year's MILLIONS Main Event, also held at Dusk Till Dawn and won by Maria Lampropoulos, and the tournament today is bound to attract some of the UK's best poker players from the length and breadth of the country.

The action gets underway at 12 noon later today, and structure says that there will be 12 levels of 30-minutes each played on Day 1, before levels increase to 40 minutes on Day 2. Late registration and single re-entries will close at the conclusion of Level 9 (approximately 18:45).

Also kicking off at 12 noon is a last-minute Turbo Super High Roller Satellite. The buy-in for that is £1,000+50 and will pay a £5,300 Super High Roller seat for every five players it attracts, so it's perfect for anyone looking to jump in on the day.

PokerNews will be bringing you live coverage of not just the partypoker LIVE UK Championships Super High Roller, but the Main Event as well which gets underway later this week.

There is still time for you to grab your seat in the Main Event, with two £100+10 Mega Satellites, both guaranteeing 50 Main Event seats, scheduled for tomorrow evening. Head to www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com for more information
