Day 1a of the €10,300 Main Event at the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe is in the books at the King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. A total of 165 players registered for the tournament today and 101 of them made it through to the second day. Mikhail Vilkov bagged one of the biggest stacks. He improved his 1,000,000 stack to an impressive 4,850,000 after eight hours of play. Other notable players that ended near the top of the chip counts are Dietrich Fast (4,255,000) and Daniel Rezaei (3,860,000).

Vilkov collected chips throughout the day and he even had 5,000,000 in front of him at one point. He closed out the day by finishing just a little bit under the five million chip mark. Fast busted Jonas Lauck in the last level of the day to give his stack a boost to 2,5 million. He never looked back from that moment and finished the day by winning another 1,7 million chips of the other players at his table.

Day 1a Action

The day started in Rozvadov with a little over 50 players on the clock and that number quickly grew. The clock showed 165 players at the end of the first starting day. Eight one-hour levels were played and 101 players found a bag at the end of the day. Late registration is still open until the end of the second level on Day 2 and plenty of entries will still be made on Day 1b of the tournament to reach that €5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Plenty of notables found a bag at the end of the first day. Among them are Patrick Mahoney (3,280,000), Niall Farrell (3,215,000), David Hu (3,070,000), Sam Grafton (2,460,000), Lawrence Bayley (1,800,000), Julian Thomas (1,740,000), Gianluca Speranza (1,245,000), and Andrea Ricci (765,000) all made it through to Day 2. Another familiar face that made it to the second day is partypoker Pro Joao Simao. He added 825,000 to his starting stack of 1,000,000 to end the day just under 2 million with 1,825,000.

Plenty more partypoker Pros showed up on Day 1a of the €10,300 but only Simao made it through to Day 2. The ones that gave it a shot but failed to find a bag were Jeff Gross of Team Online and Josip Simunic. Simunic had a short day when he sat down from the start. He wasn't able to get anything going and lost a bunch of his stack with pocket tens against ace-queen. He busted out only minutes later with ace-queen against pocket nines and he failed to win both flips.

Another member of the partypoker team that entered the day was Philipp Gruissem. He battled it out at a tough table with the likes of Markus Durnegger and Alex Keating. Both of them failed to make it to Day 2. Gruissem also battled a lot with Jack Sinclair who was seated at the same table. Sinclair lasted longer in the fight then Gruissem did when Gruissem busted right before the end of the day and Sinclair busted out only 15 minutes later.

Plenty of others gave it a shot but didn't make it to the second day. Steve Warburton, Mateusz Moolhuizen, Vojtech Ruzicka, Bryan Piccioli, Ben Heath, Triton 100K Super High Roller champion Orpen Kisacikoglu, and Aymon Hata all were eliminated throughout the day. They do still have the option to reenter the tournament through Day 1b or they can register on Day 2 in the first two one-hour levels of the day.

Day 1b will kick-off at noon on Thursday, August 15. The recipe is the exact same as today with eight one-hour levels and a fifteen-minute break after every two levels. The day will be done at approximately 8:45 p.m. local time and that will give the players enough rest to battle it out for the money on a combined Day 2.

Make sure to stay tuned to PokerNews to follow the rest of the coverage of the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe in Rozvadov.

Hata Eliminated by Mahoney

Level 8 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Aymon Hata
Aymon Hata

A player had opened the action from early position with a raise to 55,000 and Patrick Mahoney called from middle position. Aymon then three-bet to 225,000 and the initial raiser was out of the way. Mahoney thought about it for a bit before he eventually pulled the trigger. He was all in, covering Hata. Hata called for his last 1,140,000 and was at risk of elimination.

Aymon Hata: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Patrick Mahoney: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Hata was sent to the rail, only 40 minutes before the end of Day 1a.

Hoog and Gruissem Chop

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Philipp Gruissem started the hand out slow by limping from the under-the-gun position. Jesper Hoog raised to 52,000 when it had folded to him and the action then folded back to Gruissem.

Gruissem decided to put it all in and Hoog was reluctant with the call.

Philipp Gruissem: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Jesper Hoog: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and they knew they were going to chop after the turn card was dealt.

They chopped it op and continued on their way to Day 2.

Partypoker Pro Simunic Eliminated

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Josip Simunic
Josip Simunic

Josip Simunic was seen walking away from the tournament area earlier and it was confirmed that he was eliminated from the tournament. Simunic started the day off on the wrong foot when he was outkicked when both he and his opponent had three-of-a-kind aces.

He then lost some more chips with pocket tens against ace-queen, only to bust out with ace-queen against pocket nines minutes later.

The partypoker Pro can reenter into Day 1b if he chooses to.

Sinclair Versus Gruissem

Level 5 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Jack Sinclair and Philipp Gruissem
Jack Sinclair and Philipp Gruissem

It all started with a bit of laughter and a light conversation between Alex Keating, Markus Durnegger, and Dietrich Fast before Philipp Gruissem made it more serious with a raise to 30,000 from under the gun. It folded to big blind Jack Sinclair who defended his big blind.

The flop fell {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Sinclair chose to check to the initial raiser and Gruissem continued with a bet of 25,000. Sinclair then raised to 85,000 and Gruissem called.

The {6-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Sinclair had put in a big bet of 200,000 which seemed too much for Gruissem who had folded his hand.

Durnegger and Keating are at the same table as Sinclair and Gruissem, but Fast was spotted wandering through the poker room to talk to several different people in between hands.

Michael Addamo Leads Final Day of €25k MILLIONS Super High Roller

Level 4 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Two €25,000 buy-in tournaments started yesterday and one of them was in the Short deck variation. The other one was in the 'long deck' form, how the €25k MILLIONS Super High Roller was dubbed by the players trying to keep the two separate.

Michael Addamo ended the day as chip leader with 4,940,000 chips from the 1,000,000 everyone started with. Others that bagged on the first day include Ole Schemion (3,060,000), Michael Chi Zhang (2,980,000), Kahle Burns (2,845,000), Sam Grafton (2,625,000), Anton Morgenstern (1,800,000), Teun Mulder (1,490,000), and Steffen Sontheimer (1,260,000).

Registration is still open for the first two levels of the day and multiple entries are needed to reach the guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000. Plenty of registrations are already made in the tournament that started at 3 p.m. local time. Players like Alex Foxen, Igor Kurganov, Cary Katz, Paul Phua, Alex Foxen, Tom Vogelsang, Charlie Carrel, and Phil Ivey joined the field today.

There are 33 entries made at 3:20 local time and registration is open for one more hour. Seven more entries are needed to reach the one million guaranteed prize pool.

Rezaei Takes Down Big Pot

Level 3 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Daniel Rezaei
Daniel Rezaei

Daniel Rezaei and Jenya Gavrilovich were involved in a pretty big pot where the complete {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs} board was already on the table. There was about 400,000 in the middle and Rezaei had fired a big bet of 463,000.

Gavrilovich went into the tank and had to use multiple time bank cards before he ended up calling. Rezaei showed {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the absolute nuts and Gavrilovich mucked his hand.

Day 1a of the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe Main Event Starts at Noon

Feature Table
Feature Table

The €10,300 Main Event is upon us at the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe in the beautiful King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. There have been a few days of high stakes action but the tournament with the biggest guaranteed prize pool on the schedule is the Main Event with an incredible €5,000,000 guaranteed.

The tournament will feature 60-minute levels. Players will start with 1,000,000 in chips and have 200 big blinds in the first level. The plan is to play eight one-hour levels on the first day with breaks every two levels and to play down to the money on the second day. This tournament has had an online Day 1+2 and the players who made it through to Day 3 on the partypoker client will join the field here on the third day when everybody is in the money.

One of the players that used the option to play the first two days of the tournament online and made it through to the third day is Dara O'Kearney. He battled some of the toughest competition to already make it into the money.

The last partypoker LIVE MILLIONS event was held in the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. That $10,300 tournament attracted a field of 536 players, generating a prize pool of $5,360,000. Tom Marchese won the tournament for $1,000,000. A field of roughly the same size is expected in Rozvadov with the guaranteed prize pool of €5,000,000.

PokerNews will be on the tournament floor to provide updates from the first day of play until the winner is crowned on Sunday.
