Zhang Doubles Up

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Michael Chi Zhang
Michael Chi Zhang

Pavel Plesuv saw the player next to him in the cutoff open to 35,000 and he called from the button. Michael Chi Zhang put 178,000 in the middle with just 1,000 behind and it folded back to Plesuv. He put the extra 1,000 in as well and Zhang called and they opened up.

Michael Chi Zhang: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Pavel Plesuv: {8-Spades}{7-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Zhang secured a much needed double up.

Chen Leaves Zhang Short

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Zhong Chen checked from the small blind on a {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop, and Michael Chi Zhang bet 30,000.

Chen called, bringing the {j-Clubs} on the turn. Chen checked, Zhang bet 101,000, and Chen raised to 300,000. Zhang three-bet all in, and Chen called.

Chen's tournament life was at risk as the players turned over their hands.

Zhong Chen: {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Michael Chi Zhang: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Chen had Zhang in bad shape with trip eights, and the river {2-Hearts} ensured the win for Chen.

Gross Gets Back to Starting Stack

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Jeff Gross has chipped up to back over the one million chip starting mark, taking down a small pot heads-up against Maximilian Klostermeier.

Gross bet 50,000 from early position on a {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, which Klostermeier called. Both players checked through the {8-Clubs} turn and {q-Clubs} river, and Gross showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades} against Klostermeier's {a-}{j-} to rake in the pot.

Eliminations

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Gortikov Eliminates Gutteck

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Jonas Gutteck put his last 302,000 in the middle from early position with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and the three-bet to 700,000 was made by Aleksei Gortikov from the next seat with {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Alain Bauer sat in the big blind and had to think it over before he folded.

Bauer said he folded tens right before the {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop was dealt. The {j-Spades} turn didn't change anything for Gutteck who was at risk of elimination and neither did the {6-Clubs} river card.

Chein Takes a Massive Pot from Casagrande

Level 5 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Peter Chien checked from the big blind on a {6-Spades}{10-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop, and Harald Casagrande bet 50,000 into what was up to that point a modest pot.

Chien raised to 175,000, and Casgrande thought it over for a few moments before three-betting to 400,000.

The action went back to Chien, who then put in a four-bet for 1,700,000 more. Casagrande shut it down in the face of that bet, which would have forced him to commit all of his remaining chips had he called.

The pot puts Chien at a healthy 2,710,000 chips.
