Rabichow Dominates Day 2 of the CA$10,000 Main Event

Level 20 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante
Kevin Rabichow
Kevin Rabichow

It was an action-packed Day 2 at the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS North America CA$10,000 Main Event that saw the field dwindle from 258 players down to just 67. Another 10 levels were completed and bagging up the largest stack of them all was Kevin Rabichow with 30,105,000 chips.

Rabichow, who hails from Chicago, IL, hasn't played much live poker in the past couple of years but it seems that the time off hasn't hurt his play. He has over $80,000 in career tournament winnings and a deep run in this event could see that number increase exponentially.

A large portion of Rabichow's chips came from a late elimination of Norson Shiniti Saho. Rabichow called a four-bet shove of over five million from Saho and had him crushed with pocket jacks against Saho's nines. Rabichow will enter Day 3 with over a nine million chip lead and have the perfect opportunity to pick up more chips as the money bubble approaches.

Some other top stacks include Armin Rezaei who was the only other player to bag up over 20 million chips. Rezaei threw 2,103,000 in his bag and will sit in second place for the second day in a row. Montreal native Francois Billard sits in third place with 19,795,000 followed closely by notables Dietrich Fast (18,895,000) and Maurice Hawkins (18,810,000).

Coming into the day, there were 258 hopefuls looking to battle their way through another 10 levels. Unfortunately, many of them were sent to the rail leaving just 67 players. With just 63 earning a spot in the money, the action seemed to slow quite a bit as the day drew to a close. In the last level of the night, the 30-second shot clock was introduced and that will carry forward until the end of the tournament.

There were quite a few partypoker team members that were looking to make deep runs. All but one of them were eliminated from the competition with only Joni Jouhkimainen still remaining. Jouhkimainen finished the day with 8,725,000 which came in large part due to a big double up with pocket kings. Some partypoker members to fall throughout the day include Mike Sexton, Kristen Bicknell, Ludovic Geilich, and Anatoly Filatov.

Entering Day 2, former Playground Poker Club dealer Sandy Lam held the chip lead. She had an up and down day that saw her stack diminish within the first couple of levels. She managed to battler her way back to a top-ten stack but then faltered late to finish with 6,030,000. Another interesting name to keep an eye out for is Mike McDonald. The poker phenom from a few years back has taken a hiatus on the felt to develop his own business but is showing no signs of any rust. McDonald spent the latter part of the day on the feature table and wound up with a stack of 10,995,000.

The action will resume at 12 p.m. local time tomorrow with just four eliminations needed to reach the money. A min-cash will be worth CA$20,000 so it is expected that many players will tighten up until the bubble bursts. The blinds will start off at 80,000/160,000 with a 160,000 big blind ante and the levels will be increased to 75 minutes for Day 3.

Anatoly Filatov
Anatoly Filatov

Orpen Kisacikoglu opened to 200,000 in the hijack and Brandon Shiels three-bet to 625,000 in the cutoff. Anatoly Filatov was in the big blind and four-bet shoved all in for around 4,650,000. Kisacikoglu thought for a moment and then re-shoved all in over the top. Shiels quickly folded and the remaining two hands were tabled.

Kisacikoglu: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Filatov: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Kisacikoglu was in a dominating position and the flop of {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} left him in the lead. The turn was the {k-Spades} and Filatov was down to just four outs. The {q-Hearts} on the river was not one of them and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Will Givens
Will Givens

Justin Ouimette raised to 175,000 from under the gun, and once the action reached Will Givens in the small blind, he three-bet to 700,000.

Ouimette called, and then both players checked the {8-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop to reveal the {9-Clubs} on the turn.

Givens bet out 800,000 and Ouimette called as the {q-Clubs} fell on the river and both players checked.

Givens tabled his {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a straight, and Ouimette mucked.

Fast Jumps in the Lead After a Huge Flip

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Dietrich Fast
Dietrich Fast

After a series of preflop raises, Dietrich Fast and Georgiy Filippovich got all of the chips in the middle preflop with Filippovich being the player at risk for over 5,000,000 chips.

Fast: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Filippovich: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

It was a coin flip for one of the largest pots of the tournament thus far. The flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} favored Filippovich but the {k-Spades} on the turn left him drawing to two outs. The river was the {q-Spades} and Fast scooped a huge pot to take over the chip lead.

McDonald Misses Out on Some Value

Level 15 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Mike McDonald
Mike McDonald

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, the action was on Mike McDonald in the cutoff who bet 400,000. Sorel Mizzi check-called and the river brought the {a-Hearts}.

Mizzi thought for a minute before checking again. McDonald also took his time but slammed his hand on the table as well. Mizzi turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} and McDonald flipped his {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} in frustration that he missed out on some value.

"That's the one hand I don't wanna see!" McDonald said as he pulled in the pot to climb to 7,000,000 chips.

Sexton Hits the Rail

Level 14 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton

Mike Sexton was forced to grind one of the shorter stacks to start the day but his time finally came to an end. Sexton got the last of his 820,000 chips in the middle with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} but was up against the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} of Josue Sauvageau.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and Sexton stood up from his seat with Sauvageau pairing his ace. The {4-Hearts} on the turn and the {q-Spades} on the river provided Sexton with no help and he was sent to the rail.
