Wilf Busts Pahlawani Sarughieh

Level 1 : 300/600, 600 ante

Four ways to the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop with more than 24,000 in the middle, the action checked to "Omer Sahin2" who bet 10,600 on the button. Bassel Alanaz called in the big blind and Amir Pahlawani Sarughieh then raised to 25,600. Saar Wilf in the cutoff called and the other two players folded.

The {k-Hearts} fell on the turn and Pahlawani Sarughieh jammed for more than 60,000, Wilf snap-called.

Amir Pahlawani Sarughieh: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Saar Wilf: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The {q-Hearts} river was a formality as the one outer for the German never arrived.

Ercan Wins $10,500 High Roller; O'Dwyer Tops $25,500 Super High Roller

Level 1 : 300/600, 600 ante
Timur Ercan Wins the $10,500 High Roller
Timur Ercan Wins the $10,500 High Roller

While Day 1a of the $5,300 Main Event unfolded in the conference centre at Merit, the $10,500 High Roller was taking over the main stage over on the live stream feature table. Out of a field of 107 unique entries and 50-entries, only nine contenders were battling for the lion's share of the $1,444,400 prize pool.

In a short-lived heads-up duel, Timur Ercan came out on top against Tobias Duthweiler and earned applause aplenty from local players. Ercan first had to win a flip with ace-jack versus pocket eights and spiked a jack to take the lead in heads-up play. He then faced pocket eights once more and had the best of it with pocket nines to emerge victoriously.

The first player to bust was Boris Kolev after losing a flip with ace-king against the pocket queens of Halil Kezen. The next to depart was Askar Bekbayev against Tobias Duthweiler and the German then also straightened out the two pair of Kezen to score the next elimination. Iakov Onuchin departed in sixth place and Fahredin Mustafov got there with {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} against the {a-Spades}{k-Spades} of James Romero thanks to a queen on the flop.

The fortune of Mustafov ran out soon thereafter and he had to settle for fourth place, two days after finishing as the runner-up in the $2,200 Warm Up. Christophe Panetti recorded the best result of his poker career so far and earned the first spot on the podium before Ercan had the best of it in the heads-up duel with Duthweiler.

Level 1 : 300/600, 600 ante
Lukas Zaskodny
Lukas Zaskodny

"Seat open on table four" the dealer announced and Mete Ustuay was spotted on his way out of the tournament area. His {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for two pair were still visible on the table and the board showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, which had given Ustuay two pair. Lukas Zaskodny was busy stacking the chips and he was the one to deal the final blow, having flopped the nut straight with {7-}{6-}.

Zaskodny Takes From Sokol

Level 1 : 300/600, 600 ante

Joining the action on the {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, Lukas Zaskodny opted to check and Kamil Sokol bet 3,500 for the Czech to call. On the {8-Clubs} turn, Zaskodny checked once more and Sokol now bet 7,700. Zaskodny then check-raised to 20,000 and that shut down his opponent.

Duta made it 4,000 to go and was then check-raised to 14,000, tossing in the calling chips after a short period of consideration. Alanaz Limps by Mistake

Level 1 : 300/600, 600 ante

Bassel Alanaz made some waves in the $2,200 Warm Up and cashed after surviving numerous short stack all-ins. He is also in the mix in the Main Event now and wanted to raise but called first to act. Three other players limped to the {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop and Alanaz bet 2,000 to win the pot uncontested.
