Auzoux Soars Into Massive Stack

Level 23 : 20,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

The all-in showdown of Sakis Adrianopoulos was not announced but there is little doubt who collected the chips, as Gregoire Auzoux now has a monster stack. He also collected the chips of Alexander Lakhov as well, who got it in with {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Auzoux called with the {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and the board ran out {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to secure the next seat open.

According to the Frenchman, he had previously flopped a set of fives against the queens of Adrianopoulos and they got it in after a nine-high flop. Just like that, Auzoux has a commanding lead on the final four tables.

Ustimov Sends Vaiciulionis To The Rail

Level 23 : 20,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Justas Vaiciulionis got it in for what appeared to be 650,000 and he was called by Viktor Ustimov in the big blind.

Justas Vaiciulionis: {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Viktor Ustimov: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{4-Spades} flop left the Lithuanian in dire shape and his tournament run ended on the {a-Clubs} turn, which made the {9-Hearts} river a formality.

Down to 39 Players

Level 23 : 20,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

The short stacks Pierre Jreige and Arturas Randis were eliminated to bring the field down to the final 39 contenders in the fifth level of the day.

Meryumoglu Gets Lucky; Then Unlucky

Level 23 : 20,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Mustafa Meryumoglu
Mustafa Meryumoglu

Mustafa Meryumoglu got his stack in against Miad Shakiba and was in dire shape.

Miad Shakiba: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Mustafa Meryumoglu: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{k-Clubs} board provided the nine on the turn and Shakiba was covered by very few chips to depart.

Only moments later, Stefan Fabian then got it in against Meryumoglu on a flop of {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and needed running cards.

Stefan Fabian: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Mustafa Meryumoglu: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Meryumoglu had bottom set but saw the board complete with the {10-Clubs} turn and {9-Hearts} river, providing an unlikely straight to Fabian.

Guilbert Doubles Through Alanaz

Level 23 : 20,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Johan Guilbert had lost a ton of chips against Matthieu Chan and before the break but he bounced back just now after getting it in preflop for 980,000 against Bassel Alanaz.

Johan Guilbert: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Bassel Alanaz: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board kept Guilbert in contention and Alanaz was left short. Moments later, Erdem Akmert was sent to the rail to reduce the field to the last 42 hopefuls.

Akiki and Fernandez Bernal Eliminated

Level 22 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Gabriel Akiki
Gabriel Akiki

Gabriel Akiki three-bet jammed his stack and was quickly called by the initial raiser Gregoire Auzoux.

Gabriel Akiki: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Gregoire Auzoux: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The superior pair held thanks to the {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Spades} board and Akiki vanished.

Moments later on a different table, Sergio Fernandez Bernal clashed with Erdal Gulseven in a battle of the blinds on the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop.

Sergio Fernandez Bernal: {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Erdal Gulseven: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The {2-Diamonds} turn and {a-Spades} river failed to keep the Spaniard in contention and he had to settle for 42nd place.
