Goulder and Johnson Felted

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Alex Goulder
Alex Goulder

Mitch Johnson and Alex Goulder are close friends and both cashed in the Main Event, however their run came to an end at almost the same time. Goulder defended his big blind against a button raise of Aymon Hata and they checked through a flop of {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} before the stacks went in after the {10-Diamonds} turn.

Goulder showed the {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for two pair, while Hata had {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a set of tens. The {7-Spades} river was a blank and Goulder was gone.

Greenwood Sends Riess to the Rail

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

The two current big stacks are Stephen Chidwick and Sam Greenwood, the former was responsible for the elimination of Ryan Riess.

According to Greenwood, an under the gun raise was called by Riess, Julian Thomas and Greenwood on the button. On a flop of {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}, action checked to Greenwood and he bet 525,000. Riess check-raised to 1.6 million and just Greenwood called before Riess shoved on a {5-} turn. Greenwood called with pocket sevens and Riess found no help anymore with pocket sixes.

Sam's brother Lucas was less fortunate and joined the rail recently.

The Eliminations Come Quickly

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

As expected several short stacks have taken a shot at doubling as the next pay jump is quite far away and that resulted in seat open every minute. Among those to bust was also Aristeidis Moschonas, who got it in with {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. He got called by Honglin Jiang and Pascal Lefrancois, who ended up chopping the few chips of Moschonas on a board of {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

Lefrancois showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Jiang claimed the second half of the pot with {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

Three Down in Money

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Dmitry Ivanov survived the bubble with just 145,000 and became the second casualty in the money, following right after Pim Kuipers. The Dutchman had shoved with {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Julian Stuer on the button called with {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}.

The board came {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Kuipers was gone.

Thomas Scholze got his short stack in with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Balazs Botond called with {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} after having raised preflop. The {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop gave Botond a set, and the {A-Spades} turn and {9-Clubs} river failed to save Scholze.

One more hand was to be played on the pure money bubble and most players had already headed into the 75-minute dinner break, but one table was still playing with a few spectators sticking around.

Patrik Korsar had raised to 320,000 from early position and Preben Stokkan in the big blind three-bet to 960,000. Korsar moved all in for what appeared to be 3.6 million and Stokkan called instantly.

Patrik Korsar: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Preben Stokkan: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board of {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} let the bubble burst, but barely any applause could be heard as the vast majority of the players were already looking for a place to eat. Everyone now has €25,000 locked up and four further levels will be played on Day 2, action is set to resume at approximately 9.25 p.m. local time.

Jiang and Konnopelko Double

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Honglin Jiang Doubles on Bubble
Honglin Jiang Doubles on Bubble

Two all-ins and calls took place in the second-last hand before everyone was sent into the dinner break.

Bart Lybaert raised and picked up a call by Andrei Konopelko in the big blind, who then check-called all the way on a board of {6-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Lybaert showed {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Konopelko doubled with {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

Fredrik Andersson raised to 350,000 and Honglin Jiang three-bet to 550,000. Andersson moved all in with the covering stack and Jiang used one time bank extension before calling. "You gotta have queens, you look so pained," Sam Trickett in the one seat joked over to Jiang.

Honglin Jiang: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Fredrik Andersson: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The board came {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Jiang doubled.

Galinec Loses Flip to Calamusa

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Pierre Calamusa
Pierre Calamusa

Pierre Calamusa opened the action with a raise to 350,000 from under the gun and Ivan Galinec moved all in for 2.875 million from the hijack. Calamusa called and once all other hands were finished on the other tables, the cards were turned over.

Ivan Galinec: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Pierre Calamusa: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

While Galinec hit top pair, he was in even more desperate shape as the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop gave Calamusa middle set. It was all over after the {7-Diamonds} turn and the {5-Diamonds} river was a mere formality. The next table will now break before the action continues on the stone cold money bubble.

Parssinen Busts to Riess

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

The next all in showdown saw Ryan Riess with a raise to 400,000 in the hijack and Eelis Parssinen three-bet all in from the button for 3.265 million, Riess quickly called with the superior stack and a crowd gathered around their table.

Eelis Parssinen: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Ryan Riess: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The board of {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} failed to improve Parssinen, instead Riess further improved to a flush and reduced the field by one.
