Menzer Gets Unlucky to Bubble

Blinds: 2,000/4,000

Mike “MistaMenza” Menzer was the short stack with 12 left, but he looked to be in great shape to get a much needed double up, when he got his chips in the middle in a blind vs. blind situation. His {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} was well ahead of the {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} of Alex “JinYang” Butcher, but in a flash, that would change, after the flop came {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

Münzer would need running cards to survive now, but a queen on the turn would end things. With that, the remaining 11 are in the money.

"Ptkceaser" Eliminated in 9th Place ($211.75 + $95.31 in Bounties)

Blinds: 3,500/7,000

In a battle of the blinds, "RyDee" would set "Ptkceaser" all in. "Ptkceaser" would call with {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, but he would need lots of help, as "RyDee" had {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. The flop brought some chop outs for "Ptkceaser", but that would never come to fruition, giving "RyDee" the first knockout of the final table.

"RyDee" Eliminated in 8th Place ($269.50 + $141.41 in Bounties)

Blinds: 3,500/7,000

"RyDee"moved all in for his final 40,000 and change, and after Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher was the lone caller, it looked like it would be a chopped pot, as both players showed Ace-Ten suited.

However, the flop brought three clubs, which suited Fletcher just fine, giving him the nut flush, and leaving "RyDee" drawing absolutely dead.

"Buck50" Eliminated in 7th Place ($354.20 + $12.50 in Bounties)

Blinds: 5,000/10,000

"Buck50" got his short stack in preflop holding {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, and big stack "spinach_kale" made the call with {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. It looked likely to be a chopped pot, but that changed after "spinach_kale" caught a three on the flop. A nine on the turn gave "Buck50" hopes for a chop, but a five on the river changed nothing.

"Jinxy" Eliminated in 6th Place ($462)

Blinds: 6,000/12,000

After a raise from "spinach_kale" on the button, "Jinxy" would move all in from the small blind. "spinach_kale" called to put him at risk with {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, but he was well behind the {a-Spades}{10-Spades} of "Jinxy."

The flop of {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} kept "Jinxy" in the lead, as did the {k-Diamonds} turn. However, the {5-Spades} spiked on the river, sending the pot, and the bounty, over to "spinach_kale", who is now up to $325 on his bounty.

"TheTerminator1" Eliminated in 5th Place ($569.80 + $12.50 in Bounties)

Blinds: 6,000/12,000

"TheTerminator1" kicked off the action with a raise to 24,000, and it folded to Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher in the big blind. He would three bet to 88,000, and "TheTerminator1" called.

The flop came down {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and Fletcher continued for 72,000. "TheTerminator1" called, and the {10-Hearts} hit the turn. This time, Fletcher went for it all, shoving for the 174,000 that "TheTerminator1" had behind. He would think for a bit before calling with {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for second pair.

However, he was in rough shape against the {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} of Fletcher, and "TheTerminator1" would not improve on the river.

Alex “JinYang” Butcher Eliminated in 4th Place ($739.20 + $164.06 in Bounties)

Blinds: 7,000/14,000

After a raise from chip leader Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher, Alex “JinYang” Butcher moved all in for his final 320,000 or so. That all in was quickly called by Fletcher holding {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, and he was in great shape against the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} of Butcher. A king came right on the flop, and Butcher was drawing dead by the turn.

This leaves us three handed, with Fletcher still holding a big lead.

Anthony Maio
Anthony Maio

Blinds: 8,000/16,000

Anthony “Flawlessbinkage” Maio shoved his short stack all in from the small blind with {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and "spinach_kale" put him at risk holding {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

The hand was all but over after the flop came {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, and after the {8-Hearts} hit the turn, Maio was drawing dead.

This leaves us heads up, with "spinach_kale" holding a decent lead over Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher.

Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher Eliminated in 2nd Place ($1432.20 + $287.10 in Bounties)

Clayton Fletcher
Clayton Fletcher

Blinds: 10,000/20,000

Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher raised to 40,000, and "spinach_kale" released to 148,000. Fletcher had no plans to back down, putting out another raise to 280,000.

"spinach_kale" moved all in, and Fletcher beat him into the pot with {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. He was in great shape to double into the chip lead, as "spinach_kale" had {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. but that would all change after the flop came down {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Fletcher would need a miracle to survive now, and the {7-Diamonds} turn and {8-Spades} river provided no such miracles. Fletcher will take home over $1,700 for his efforts tonight, but the first place prize of $2,256.10, along with $962.14 in bounties, will be going home with "spinach_kale."

Stay tuned for a full recap to be posted shortly.

Congratulations to "spinach_kale" Winner of Event #5: $10,000 GTD PKO Bounty

Another action-packed Progressive Bounty tournament is in the books in the partypoker US Network PKO Series, and today the champion is "spinach_kale." For his win, he earned $2,256.10 along with $962.14 in bounties for a total first-place prize of $3,218.24.

To clinch the win, "spinach_kale" had to defeat stand-up comedian and poker aficionado Clayton “claytonfletcher” Fletcher in heads-up play.

The two players who would eventually get heads up started the final table as the two chip leaders, and the duo would maintain their status as big stacks throughout.

Fletcher caught an early knockout at the final table, when he flopped a club flush against "RyDee" after they had gotten it all in preflop both holding ace-ten.

Next, it was "spinach_kale" who would get lucky after hitting the river to knock "Jinxy" out in sixth place.

It would go back to Fletcher for the next two eliminations. First, he would take out "TheTerminator1" in fifth Place, and then busted Alex "JinYang" Butcher in fourth.

Anthony “Flawlissbinkage” Maio would bust in third place, and it looked like there would be a lengthy heads-up battle, with both players rather deep. However, a preflop cooler of sorts would develop, with Fletcher holding pocket kings while "spinach_kale" had ace-ten. Fletcher was in the lead, but an ace came right on the flop, and just like that, the tournament was over!

The Progressive Bounty tournaments continues tomorrow (Friday, July 31) with another $10,000 Guaranteed Event. Just like today, the buy-in is $109, and the action kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET. See you guys then!
