"COMEATTHEKING" Wins partypoker US Network Online Series Event #6 for $6,843 Via Heads-Up Chop

"COMEATTHEKING"

"COMEATTHEKING" has claimed the most recent partypoker US Network Online Series title, earning a payday of $6,843 and taking first place in Event #6: $20,000 GTD NLH after agreeing to a heads-up chop with "BOONYANI", who earned an even $6,000 from the deal.

The guaranteed prize pool of $20,000 was well-exceeded, as 139 entries generated a prize pool of $27,800 that was paid out to the top 15 finishers. Late registration lasted for three hours, and four tables were in play when the prize pool became finalized. That number was halved by the break that came 35 minutes later, as just 17 players remained and hand-for-hand play had begun.

Bubble play lasted for nearly two full levels as a handful of players dwindled to crumbs, and BigDickRick eventually lost their last ante in order to finish in 16th place and burst the bubble. Five eliminations occurred within the next five minutes to reach the final table bubble, where "maniacalmonk" was eliminated in 10th place by eventual third-place finisher "IReadYrSoul".

Final Table Action

"IReadYrSoul" entered the final table with the chip lead and watched short stacks battle it out as eventual seventh-place finisher "rule22" knocked out "Craig9222", with hoodrathings busting out in eighth place in between the two aforementioned eliminations.

It looked as if "sri100k" may lead a charge to the top, as they eliminated "spinach_kale" in sixth place and took the chip lead into the fifth break of the evening. However, "IReadYrSoul" then regained the chip lead as "kneadthedough8" became the next to fall.

That chip lead did not last for long, though. "COMEATTHEKING" then led their charge to the top after hitting a straight against "BOONYANI," who found themselves crippled before staging an improbable comeback that consisted of several doubles. "sri100k" then saw their luck run dry, ultimately being eliminated by "COMEATTHEKING" in fourth place.

Three-handed play lasted for a level-and-a-half and "COMEATTHEKING" increased their chip lead steadily over that timeframe. Eventually, "IReadYrSoul" shoved ace-four suited into the pocket sevens of "BOONYANI" and did not get there, resulting in their elimination in third. From there, both remaining players immediately went into talks to make a deal and found an agreement without needing to play a single hand of heads-up poker in order to finish the tournament.
