$320 Event #6: $20K GTD 6-Max PKO Bounty

Day 1 Completed

Congratulations to Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell, Winner of $320 Event #6: $20K GTD 6-Max PKO Bounty for $6,840

The partypoker US Online Series has crowned another champion here in $320 Event #6: $20K GTD 6-Max PKO Bounty. A total of 60 runners showed up for the tournament and when the dust had settled only Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell was left standing, taking home a combined $6,840 for his victory.

Once the final tabled had hit, O'Connell was sitting with a healthy 40 big blind stack and instantly started to heat-up. He dropped Angel "chromeking" Lopez to take the lead and completed dominated the rest of the final table, collecting every bounty that was up for grabs, amassing a monstrous $3,759 in bounties with no other player even eclipsing a four-figure bounty.

O'Connell had no real hurdles on the way to victory but he was not just running well as an optimal playstyle was definitely guiding him on the path to a win. This is O'Connell's first partypoker US Online Series win and he is most certainly someone to look out for as the rest of the series unfolds.

Action of the Day

The halfway mark of this series was officially passed with this tournament and a total of 60 players showed up to battle it out. This was a less-than-expected field that came up short of the guaranteed prize pool but it was still an exciting one. Just four hours after it started, an official final table was met and John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza was leading the way.

O'Connell instantly started his terror when he pushed ace-king and Angel "chromeking" Lopez called with his ace-queen. A bricked out board presented itself and Lopez was the first to go. Just moments later "HueJasole777" pushed, Brian "TopCreature" Sherrier called and O'Connell raised over the top, pushing Sherrier out. O'Connell tabled ten-five and "HueJasole777" showed ace-eight. "HueJasole777" was leading on the turn with their pair of eights but a rivered two pair sent the pot to O'Connell and "HueJasole777" was eliminated.

"FRIELnGood" was looking to take down another PKO Event as they already took down $215 Event #3: $20K GTD 8-Max PKO Bounty just a couple of days ago but O'Connell had other plans. "FRIELnGood" shoved their ace-queen into the jack-ten of O'Connell who turned broadway to eliminated "FRIELnGood" from the event in fourth.

The chip leader to start the final table was the next to make an exit when John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza shoved their ace-five into the jack-ten of O'Connell. A flopped jack was more than enough to scoop as O'Connell pulled in another bounty, creating the heads-up play. The final two didn't battle for long before Sherrier pushed his short stack into the middle with jack-five, only to see pocket jacks in the hand of O'Connell. The board was of no excitement and O'Connell easily took it down, eliminating Sherrier as the runner-up for a respectable $3,351 total.

Brian "TopCreature" Sherrier Eliminated in 2nd Place ($3,079)

On blinds of 12,000/24,000, the short-stacked Brian "TopCreature" Sherrier shoved their 300,446 stack from the button and Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell snapped in what was the last hand of the event.

Brian "TopCreature" Sherrier: {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Sherrier's hand was in a tough spot versus the pocket johnnies of O'Connell and a {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop was not exactly exciting. The {4-Spades} river did all but seal the deal for O'Connell and a {10-Clubs} river cemented it as his jacks scooped the pot, knocking Sherrier out in second place.

John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza Eliminated in 3rd ($2,090)

On blinds of 12,000/24,000, action folded around to John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza who pushed their 297,976 stack in from the small blind and Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell snap-called, putting another opponent on the chopping block.

John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza: {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop instantly hit O'Connell when a {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} trio landed on the virtual felt. A {2-Clubs} turn added some straight outs for Forlenza but the {q-Hearts} river card was of no help and they were eliminated in third, shipping another bounty to the leader.

"FRIELnGood" Eliminated in 4th Place ($1,210)

On blinds of 8,000/16,000, Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell pushed all of his chips into the middle from the big blind and "FRIELnGood" called for around 290,000.

"FRIELnGood": {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

The flop came down {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and "FRIELnGood" was still leading the way until the unfortunate {q-Diamonds} landed as a turn. O'Connell's turned straight then had "FRIELnGood" drawing dead to the {k-Diamonds} river card, eliminating them in fourth place.

"HueJasole777" Eliminated in 5th Place ($880)

On blinds of 8,000/16,000, Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell opened from the button, "HueJasole777" shoved 85,946 in the small blind and Brian "TopCreature" Sherrier called in the big blind. O'Connell elected to four-bet to 240,000 and Sherrier ducked out, leaving just two.

"HueJasole777": {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell: {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}

The flop rolled out {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, hitting O'Connell with a pair of nickels to secure the lead. Instantly "HueJasole777" retook the lead when an {8-Spades} peeled off on the turn. An unlikely {10-Diamonds} completed the board, giving O'Connell two pair and the pot, collecting the bounty of "HueJasole777".

Angel "chromeking" Lopez Eliminated in 6th Place ($660)

On blinds of 8,000/16,000, Angel "chromeking" Lopez opened from the hijack and Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell shoved in the big blind. Lopez called for less, putting his 246,400 into the middle and the two tabled their hands.

Angel "chromeking" Lopez: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The flop fell {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and the big slick of O'Connell was ahead. A {7-Hearts} turn card changed nothing as Lopez needed a lady to stay alive. The {6-Clubs} river sealed it for O'Connell who sent Lopez out in sixth place.

The board came down {q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Buzgon barely survived, thanks to a rivered bullet to double through Forlenza.
