Big Stax 1100

Day 2 Started

Welcome to Day 2 of Parx Big Stax 1100

Parx Big Stax 1100 Day 1b
Parx Big Stax 1100 Day 1b

After two preliminary rounds, it's time for the real fun to begin at Parx Big Stax 1100 in the Philadelphia area. Day 2 has arrived, and with it a number of milestones for this tournament.

The first two days of play have seen 357 entries register, but registration still remains open with 79 having earned seats on Day 2 already. That will end in short order here today, although players can still fire away with 10 big blinds throughout the duration of the first one-hour level — blinds and antes kick off at 2,500/5,000/5,000 to begin play.

Those brave enough to come in this late will add to a prize pool in the range of $350,000.

Day 2 play features one-hour levels, a step up from the 45 minutes on Day 1. For the first time, the tournament will also play out in the main cash game room rather than the East building. Action continues through Level 24 (15,000/30,000/30,000) or until an official final table of eight players has been reached.

At this juncture, Greg Fishberg remains the man to catch with 719,000 in chips, as nobody else even topped the 500,000 mark. Still plenty of players bear watching, including Mukul and Vinny Pahuja, DJ MacKinnon, Steve Silverman, Roman Valerstein and Victor Ramdin are among that number.

Stay tuned to PokerNews to find out what sort of prize pool will develop and which players will best position themselves for the lion's share of it.

Ramdin Battles Veliu

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Victor Ramdin bet 12,000 from the small blind into about 38,000 on {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. From the button, Alida Veliu made it 30,000 to go. Ramdin cut down his stack and then called. The turn was a {4-Clubs} and the river a {4-Spades} after both players checked. Ramdin quickly moved all in for about 53,000 and Veliu folded.

Gary Gelman three-bet to 47,500 in the small blind when Joe Gustis raised on the button, and Gustis peeled to bring a {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop. Gelman bet 37,000 then 68,000 more on the {3-Diamonds} turn. Gustis stuck around for the {7-Spades} river, and when Gelman checked to him, he shoved all in. Gelman thought briefly and folded.

"This any good?" Gustis asked, showing the {k-Spades}.

Santos Surges into Lead

Josias Santos
Josias Santos

We came upon the aftermath of the biggest pot played yet, with small blind Josias Santos having {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} in front of him on {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Apparently, he'd gotten in a raising war with a player in late position, ending with Santos all in for 603,000. His opponent apparently had shown down queens, which were already mucked. Santos collected nearly all of his opponent's chips and moved past 1.2 million.
