John Racener was all in preflop holding the and dominated by the of Moritz Kranich. Racener had been nursing a short stack throughout much of the day and desperately needed a double. Unfortunately for him the board ran out a rather dull and Racener was eliminated from the tournament. Kranich, on the other hand, is up to 226,000.
Action folded to Matt Affleck in the hijack and he threw in a raise to 12,000. David "Bakes" Baker proceeded to make it 30,000 to go from the cutoff. The button folded and Daniel Alaei opted to move all in from the small blind for his last 90,000. Affleck quickly moved all in himself for 163,000 and Baker folded after a moment of deliberation.
Affleck:
Alaei:
Affleck was in a dominating position but not after the flop. Suddenly the tables were turned and Affleck needed to pair his pocket pair. He couldn't do it on the turn nor on the river. Alaei doubled to 220,000 while Affleck was left with just 73,000.
Action folded to Fernando Brito in the hijack and he raised to 12,000. After two more folds, action reached Jason Mercier in the big blind and he simply moved all in. Brito called for his tournaments life.
Mercier:
Brito:
Brito needed some help and his best shot was on the flop; however, the was of absolutely no help. The dealer burned and turned the , keeping Mercier in the lead. Brito was hoping for one last fling with lady luck but his hopes were dashed when the peeled off. Mercier added around 70,000 to his stack while Brito exited the $25,000 High Roller tournament.
Govert Metaal checked the flop to chip leader Jason Mercier, who threw out a bet. Metaal then check-raised all in for around 105,000 total and Mercier called.
Metaal:
Mercier:
Metaal was looking for some low cards to help improve his hand. Lucky for him, the turn was the and he hit two pair. The river changed nothing and Metaal doubled to 210,000. Mercier took a small hit and dropped down to 670,000.
Freddy deeb has been nursing a short stack for a few rounds and finally found himself in an all-in situation. It all began when Brandon Steven, who you may remember as the World Series of Poker Main Event final table bubble boy this past year, raised to 12,500 from the hijack. Deeb moved all in for a total of 15,500 and Steven was the only caller.
Deeb:
Steven:
Deeb needed a three in the worst way but the flop essentially ended his tournament. The turn made his elimination official and the was put out on the river for good measure.
Daniel Alaei raised to 13,000 from early position and was called by Ty Reiman on the button. Matt Affleck was next to act in the small blind and decided to move all in for his last 55,000. Alei moved all in over the top to drive Reiman from the hand and it was heads up to the flop.
Affleck:
Alaei:
The last time Affleck had a big pocket pair and Alaei had pocket nines, things did not turn out in Affleck's favor; however, this time would be different. The flop delivered a set for Affleck while the turn and river ensured his double. Affleck currently sits with 131,000 while Alaei dropped to 136,000.
Action folded to Tom Marchese on the button and he merrily raised to 11,000. William Reynolds, who is a gentleman in his own right, gracefully moved all in for 68,500. Marchese accepted the challenge and the cards were revealed to the interested spectators.
Marchese:
Reynolds:
Reynolds was no doubt crestfallen to discover the pickle he'd gotten himself into. Indeed, it wasn't until the flop fell that Reynolds breathed a sigh of relief, comforted in the knowledge he had improved to the best hand. All was not lost for Marchese however, that is until the plopped down on the turn. Marchese was "drawing dead" as they say and the regal Reynolds doubled to 143,000. Marchese dropped a teeny bit to 320,000.
