Hachem Doubles...Loudly

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

On an {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board, we arrived at the table and found Joe Hachem calling 4,150 from Simoes Mesqueu.

The {5-Clubs} hit the turn and Hachem checked. Mesqueu slid out the rest of his stack, putting the decision on Hachem for the rest of his chips. With just about 11,950 behind, Hachem called all in and tabled {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Mesqueu tabled {6-Spades}{3-Clubs} and needed help to catch up, finding none from the {4-Diamonds} river card.

However, thats not how Hachem saw it. As soon as the river fell, Hachem let out a loud, "Oooooooooooooooooh" and jumped out of his chair, believing he was rivered. The players at the table informed he won and Hachem was stunned.

"How do I win?" he asked, looking intently at the board. Upon seeing his top pair held, he said "I kept saying in my head no four."

Players in the area clearly poked some fun at Hachem for his misreading of the board. Chino Rheem asked, "Joe, did you use your one time?"

Freddy Deeb also chimed in, "Are you sure you won the Main Event?"

Bottom line, Hachem doubled up and has about 37,000. Amazingly, Mesqueu didn't show any emotion while the entire fracas was going on.
