The first day of the $25,000 High Roller event here at the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is in the books. An extremely impressive and large field of players came out for the event with the final tally reaching 151.
The total prizepool created was $3,699,500 and the winner will walk away with $1,072,850. Grabbing the pole position after Day 1 is Ryan “toetagU” Fair. He bagged up 217,200 in chips and will enter Day 2 as the chip leader. Fair won the 2010 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker $10,300 Main Event for $1,162,350 back in May and has over two million in career earnings on PokerStars alone.
The defending champion, William Reynolds, had a very solid day on the felt as well. He bagged up 170,800 in his title-defense run. Joining Fair and Reynolds towards the top of the pack will be Ty Reiman (205,400), Kyle Julius (173,500) and Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez (167,600).
Play resumes tomorrow at 12:00 P.M. with under 100 players remaining. The plan is to play down to a final table, but that may be a stretch. The money bubble is set at 16 and with first place over $1 million, you can bet everyone will be returning with the best game.

The tournament staff has announced that they randomly selected eight more hands to be played out. Once that's done, the remaining players will bag and tag for the night.
With a little less than 10,000 chips in the middle, Rachid Ben Cherif checked to Jason Mercier on the flop of . He bet 4,100 and Joe Hachem made the call. Ben Cherif folded.
The turn card was the and Mercier led for 7,300 into his opponent. Hachem raised to 16,500 and Mercier thought for a bit before calling.
The fell on the river and Mercier tapped the table to check to Hachem. His fellow Team PokerStars Pro fired a hefty 27,000 into the pot. The bet sent Mercier into the tank for a couple minutes. Eventually, he committed the chips to make the call.
"You never fold, do you?" asked Hachem as he turned over the for just a pair of sixes. Mercier tabled the for top pair and won the pot.
Mercier moved to about 125,000 while Hachem dropped back to 55,000.
The 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller event attracted a whopping 151 players. That's 67 more than last year, nearly an 80% increase.
The total prizepool this year is a juicy $3,699,500! A total of 16 spots will be paid out with over $1 million going to first place. Just getting into the money will net you $55,490. Here are the entire payouts.

Seeing a Chino Rheem raise and an Erik Seidel call in front of him, Dan Heimiller went all in for about 14,000 and found action from just Rheem.

The board ran out to give Heimiller a full house. He is still on the shorter side with 32,000, while Rheem takes a small hit to 106,000.
With 10,800 in the pot and the board reading , Jason Mercier bet 7,000. Joe Hachem called and when the fell on the river, Mercier bet 15,100. Hachem gave it up after a few moments, dropping to roughly 112,000. Mercier is up to about 60,000.
Jonathan Duhamel got the last of his chips in with and was trailing the of Jonathan Little.
The board ran out , ending Duhamel's tournament at the beginning of Level 8.
Little upped his stack to about 57,000.
