Guess What? Oliver Gets There

Level 31 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
Chris Oliver
Chris Oliver

From the button, Mike Sowers attacked with a raise to 320,000 with the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. Chris Oliver fought back from the small blind with the {3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and three-bet to 860,000. Sam Stein held the {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} in the big blind and flatted the three-bet before Sowers also called.

The flop came down {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Oliver stayed on the gas, betting 1.15 million with his gutshot straight draw and undercards to the board. Stein decided to float, but Sowers didn't go anywhere with his top pair. He also called.

The turn brought the {3-Spades} and Oliver picked up a pair. He checked and Stein checked behind. Sowers also checked top pair.

The river completed the board with the {5-Clubs} to give Oliver a six-high straight using his lowly deuce. He fired at the pot, betting 1.875 million. Stein folded and Sowers went into the tank with top pair. He tanked for a bit and then made a solid decision to release his hand.

The big pot was pushed Oliver's way and his stack moved to 22.4 million. Sowers was left with 6.26 million.

Mike Sowers Eliminated in 5th Place ($700,000)

Level 31 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
Mike Sowers - 5th Place
Mike Sowers - 5th Place

Mike Sowers opened to 340,000 with {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} from early position and Chris Oliver three-bet to 775,000 with {8-Spades}{2-Hearts} on the button. Sowers called.

The flop fell {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Sowers checked to Oliver who continued for over a million. Sowers check-raised all in for over 5 million and Oliver snapped it off.

Sowers was sick when he saw Oliver's hand and needed running straight cards or a four for a set.

The {k-Clubs} on the turn eliminated all straight possibilities and Sowers was left with just two outs to stay alive.

The river was the {7-Spades} however and Sowers was eliminated from the tournament in 5th place taking home $700,000.

The four remaining players are all guaranteed a million dollars and Oliver commands a massive chip lead with over 27 million.

Galen Hall completed from the small blind with the {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Chris Oliver raised from the big blind with the {Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts} to 400,000 and Hall called.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Hall check-called a bet of 160,000 from Oliver. The turn brought the {K-Hearts} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {2-Hearts} and both checked again.

Oliver showed his hand and his pair of threes to win the pot.

Chris Oliver raised from under the gun to 475,000 with the {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Galen Hall called from the big blind with the {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and the two players saw the flop come {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Oliver still held the best hand, but Hall held a flush draw now. Hall checked and Oliver checked behind.

The turn brought the {A-Diamonds} to pair the board. Hall fired 450,000 and Oliver didn't just give it up. He put in a raise to 1.1 million. Hall made the call with his flush draw.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs} and also completed the flush for Hall. He thought for a bit and then checked. Oliver fired at the pot, trying to steal it with a bet of 950,000. After a minute, Hall check-raised to 2.7 million and won the pot.
