Andress Straightens Out Opponent

There was about 10,000 in the middle when we reached the table. The board read {7-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, and two players checked to John Andress, who fired 5,700. One player check-raised to 15,000, the other folded, and Andress called.

The river was the {2-Clubs}, and the player led out for 12,000. Andress scrunched his face, then announced that he was all in (about 10,000 more). The player quickly called.

Andress tabled {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a straight, and the player flashed {9-Spades}{8-Spades} before exiting.

Andress, who won the 2011 EPT Prague High Roller, is now flirting with a six-figure stack.

Shulman Doubles Through Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was recently moved to a new table where he was graced with such poker presences as Vanessa Rousso and Barry Shulman. In fact, Negreanu has history with the latter as he fell at the hands of Shulman during heads up play of the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event.

Today it seems was no different for Negreanu, as he and Shulman were engaged in a pot that saw Negreanu ship a solid portion of his stack over to the WSOPE champion.

The two took a flop heads up with over 8,000 already in the pot. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Negreanu came out firing with a bet of 5,100. Shulman quickly moved all in and Negreanu snapped him off only to find that he was behind.

Negreanu: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Shulman: {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Shulman was ahead with Broadway and was hoping to fade Negreanu's full house outs. The turn was the {8-Hearts} and the river the {5-Hearts} securing Shulman a double up through KidPoker. Shulman is now sitting at about 55,000 while Negreanu has fallen to 42,000.

Makhija Finally Succumbs

Amit Makhija was nursing a short stack much of the day, and any hope of a comeback recently came to an end with his elimination.

We didn't catch his bust, but 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Jesse Sylvia did as he was seated to the direct right of Makhija all day. According to him, Makhija shoved his short stack from early position with {5-}{5-} and received a call from a player holding {A-}{Q-}. The board ran out {10-}{10-}{K-}{J-}{K-} and Makhija's opponent made a straight to win the hand.

Adoubleupoulos for Polychronopoulos

Athanasios Polychronopoulos checked to Joe McGowan on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}. McGowan tossed out 2,000, Polychronopoulos check-raised to 11,500 - effectively going all in - and McGowan tanked for a bit before pushing out a stack of blue T5,000 chips, raising to 13,650. Polychronopoulos called.

Polychronopoulos: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
McGowan: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The {q-Clubs} on the turn was a brick, but the river was the {2-Spades}, giving Polychronopoulos a flush. He doubled to around 30,000 chips, while McGowan slipped to 80,000.
