The 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event continues today with Day 1b action from the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Yesterday Day 1a of this tournament drew 320 players, which represented a 23.445% decrease from 2012’s Day 1a. Nevertheless, the field here today is expected to be huge!

We expect to see the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Phil Hellmuth, Vanessa Selbst, Victor Ramdin, Brandon Cantu and Shaun Deeb, just to name a few. We’ll also no doubt see the finalist from yesterday’s $100,000 Super High Roller final table, which included Nick Schulman, David “Doc” Sands, and eventual winner Scott Seiver.

Another man who will be playing is the defending champion, John DiBella. The amateur won this event last year after overcoming a final table that included Xuan Liu, Faraz Jaka, and Kyle Julius to win $1,775,000. What’s more, Dibella won the 2013 PCA Event #3 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo just a few days ago for $69,780. He’s the defending champion and is full of confidence and momentum—a dangerous competition.

All of today’s participants will be chasing Maxim Lobzhanidze, who emerged as the Day 1a chip leader of the advancing 162 players—he bagged up 248,900 in chips. Following closely on his heels were Gilbert Diaz (215,900) and Darren Elias (191,000). With that said, a bigger field means more chips and play and oftentimes results in the big stack emerging from Day 1b. We’ll just have to wait and see if that proves to be true today.

Day 1b will kick off at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island at 12:00 EST, so stay tuned to PokerNews throughout the rest of the day as we provide you with the latest coverage from the tournament floor!
