PCA 2013 Main Event Final Table Set; Wong On Top

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Jerry Wong - Chip Leader
Jerry Wong - Chip Leader

Another day of poker is in the books here at the Atlantis Paradise Island as 21 players returned for a spot on the coveted final table of the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event. By the end of play it was Jerry Wong who sat on the largest stack of chips at the table. Wong will be joined by the likes of four-time WSOP final tablist Owen Crowe, 2012 WPT Montreal Main Event winner Jonathan Roy, and $10 PokerStars qualifier Joao Nogueira.

Despite the returning field being such a small size there were several notable professionals to return to the felt on Day 5. As play wore on, however, many of these players met their untimely demise. The first well-known player to see his exit was 2012 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final champion Mohsin Charania. With blinds at 12,000/24,000/3,000, Charania moved all in from under the gun for his last 115,000. Michael Lipman flat called only to have Wong three-bet to 300,000. Lipman called the three-bet and the flop brought {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Wong fired 200,000 on the flop and Lipman raised all in for about 900,000. Wong called and the hands were tabled.

Lipman: {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Wong: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Charania: {2-}{2-}

The board completed with the {6-Spades} on the turn and the {8-Clubs} on the river which secured Wong's hand as the best. Charania was sent home in 20th place with a payday of $56,000. Lipman was crippled and busted a few spots later.

Also to fall before the end of the day was WPT 2009 Borgata Poker Open champion and noted poker commentator Olivier Busquet. Busquet's end came at the hands of Ryan Fair, who was able to score a double knockout in the hand, also eliminating Anthony Borde.

Eddy Sabat was yet another player who saw his exit from the tournament on Day 5. This year marked Sabat's third top-40 PCA Main Event finish in a row (coming in 30th in 2011 and 40th in 2012). Sabat's tournament came to an end when he lost a race with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} against the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Darren Elias.

As the eliminations began to rack up the final nine players combined to an unofficial final table, which lasted almost two full levels as the nine players battled on the felt. Fair, who began the table as the chip leader lost several key pots against Joel Micka and end-of-day chip leader Wong. His rough path through the final table finally came to an end when he three-bet all in against Micka for his last 920,000. Micka called and the hands were turned over.

Micka: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Fair: {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Micka was ahead and stayed that way when he paired his ten on a flop that read {7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{K-Spades}. A dejected Fair hung his head as he continued to brick out on the subsequent streets. He was forced to settle for the title of final table Bubble Boy and the $120,000 that accompanies it.

Ryan Fair Eliminated in 9th Place ($120,000)

Ryan Fair - 9th Place
Ryan Fair - 9th Place

Ryan Fair, the man who came into the unofficial final table as the chip leader, has just been eliminated as the final table bubble boy.

Joel Micka opened to 120,000 from the hijack and Ryan Fair shipped all in for about 920,000 from the cutoff. It folded back to Micka and he called.

Fair: {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Micka: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop brought {7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{K-Spades} and Micka hit his ten, leaving Fair drawing remarkably thin. The {7-Spades} turned and Fair's tournament life officially came to an end. He will collect $120,000 for his efforts. With the elimination of Fair the official final table of eight is set!

Wong Scoops Massive Pot From Fair

Jerry Wong
Jerry Wong

Jerry Wong opened to 120,000 from the hijack. It folded to Ryan Fair's small blind and he three-bet to 250,000. Wong called and the flop brought {3-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Fair continued for 345,000 and Wong decided to stick around.

Fourth street brought the {5-Spades} and Fair kept up his aggression with a 465,000 chip bet. Wong called yet again.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and Fair slowed down with a check. Wong moved 1.075 million into the middle and Fair thought for a moment before calling. Wong flipped over {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a heart flush and Fair threw his cards into the muck.

With this win Wong is now sitting on roughly 8.4 million in chips while our one-time chip leader, Fair, has become the shortest stack at the table.

Mikal Blomlie Eliminated in 10th Place ($120,000)

Mikal Blomlie - 10th Place
Mikal Blomlie - 10th Place

Immediately after his last double up, short-stacked Mikal Blomlie was once again all in before the flop. Joel Micka flatted the necessary 115,000 from the button and the blinds released.

Blomlie: {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Micka: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The board fell {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Blomlie's pair of tens were able to secure him another double up. After this hand he held roughly 315,000.

The next hand he was all in before the flop once more, this time holding {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Micka called him yet again and showed {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The two were off to the races.

The flop brought {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Micka jumped out into a tremendous lead. Blomlie was suddenly in need of a trey to stay alive in the tournament. The turn was the {j-Diamonds} and the river the {Q-Hearts} and Blomlie was officially our 10th place finisher.

With the elimination of Blomlie, the field has now reached its unofficial final table of nine. The players are combining on the main stage and we will have a full seating draw complete with chip counts momentarily.

George Clyde-Smith Eliminated in 11th Place ($95,000)

George Clyde-Smith (Day 4) -- 11th Place
George Clyde-Smith (Day 4) -- 11th Place

George Clyde-Smith raised to 80,000 from under the gun, and Dimitar Danchev called from the button. The dealer put out the {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, and Clyde-Smith bet 120,000. Danchev raised to 280,000, then Clyde-Smith moved all in for around 900,000. Danchev called.

Danchev held the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, and Clyde-Smith had the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. On the turn, the {6-Clubs} landed, which left Clyde-Smith needing a queen or a club on the river to stay alive.

It wouldn't be, as the {4-Diamonds} hit the felt on fifth street, pairing the board and eliminating Clyde-Smith from the tournament in 11th place. He earned $95,000 for his finish.

Robert Mizrachi Eliminated in 12th Place ($95,000)

Robert Mizrachi - 12th Place

Mikal Blomlie opened to 63,000 and it folded to Joel Micka who three-bet to 155,000 from the cutoff. Action came around to a short-stacked Robert Mizrachi who flat called from the small blind. Blomlie got out of the way and the two saw {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

Mizrachi wasted no time immediately shipping his last 242,000 all in. Micka shrugged and tossed out a call.

Mizrachi: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Micka: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Mizrachi was ahead at the moment but needed to fade an ace, jack, or queen. He did exactly that when the {6-Spades} fell on fourth street. His hopes of staying alive in the tournament were dashed, however, when the {A-Spades} dropped down on the river, ensuring him a 12th place finish. Mizrachi will collect $95,000 for his efforts.

Joao Nogueira opened from the cutoff seat with a raise to 62,000. Mikal Blomlie called on the button, then Darren Elias, the 2012 WCOOP $10,300 High Roller champion, three-bet to 210,000 from the small blind. After Nogueira folded, Blomlie moved all in. Elias called and put himself at risk for 1.18 million.

Blomlie held the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, and Elias had the {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

On the {J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} flop, Blomlie took the lead. He held from there after the {7-Spades} landed on the turn and the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Elias finished in 13th place, and earned $80,000 for his finish.

Dimitar Danchev raised to 60,000 from under the gun, and Matthew Reed reraised to 140,000 from the next seat. Jerry Wong reraised to 230,000 from the hijack seat, and action folded back to Danchev. He folded, then Reed went all in for around one million. Wong called.

Wong held {A-}{A-} and was up against Reed's {K-}{K-}. After the board came {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Reed was out the door in 14th place. He won $80,000, and Wong climbed to 3.5 million in chips.

Manig Loeser Eliminated in 16th Place ($67,000)

Manig Loeser -- 16th Place
Manig Loeser -- 16th Place

Falling in 16th place was Manig Loeser, and it was Joao Nogueira who sent him to the rail.

From early position, Robert Mizrachi raised to 49,000. Nogueira called from middle position, Mikal Blomlie called from the hijack seat, and then Loeser reraised to 202,000 in the cutoff seat. Mizrachi folded, Nogueira reraised all in, and Blomlie folded. Loeser made the call to put himself at risk for approximately 900,000.

Nogueira held the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, and Loeser held the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. Nogueira had the most chips, meaning Loeser was at risk in the flip.

The board ran out {A-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, and Loeser was eliminated.

Eddy Sabat Eliminated in 17th Place ($56,000)

Eddy Sabat opened to 48,000 from the cutoff and it folded around to Darren Elias in the small blind. Elias three-bet to 132,000 and action came back to Sabat.

"I'll go all in," said Sabat.

Elias snapped him off and tabled {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} which was racing with Sabat's {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The flop brought no help for Sabat as it fell {3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The {2-Hearts} rolled off on fourth street meaning Sabat needed an ace or a king on the river to stay alive. The river was the {9-Clubs} and he was forced to settle with a 17th place finish. Sabat has made the top 40 in this event three years in a row and this 17th place is his best finish here. He'll collect $56,000 for his winnings.
