Just before the level up, Igor Kurganov, who already busted this tournament once and opted to re-enter, opened for 5,000 when action folded to him on the button. Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel, who had an amazing year here at the PCA in 2012 including a fourth-place finish in this event for $313,600, then opted to three-bet to 16,000 from the big blind.
Kurganov called the additional 11,000 and then called when Duhamel bet 14,000 on the 
flop. Duhamel kept the pressure on with a bet of 34,500 on the river, but Kurganov was not to be deterred and made the call. When the 
peeled off on the river, Duhamel fired out a healthy bet of 74,000, and after thinking for about thirty seconds, Kurganov made the call.
Duhamel tabled , and a frustrated Kurganov sent his cards to the muck while dropping to 66,000.

Anthony Gregg opened to 5,500 under the gun and Bill Perkins made the call from the cutoff using all black T100 chips. Action then reached Mike "Timex" McDonald in the small blind and he three-bet to 16,600. Much to McDonald's surprise, Gregg made the call, as did Perkins.
McDonald proceeded to lead out for 15,500 on the 
flop, Gregg called, and Perkins got out of the way. When the appeared on the turn, McDonald checked and quickly folded when Gregg bet 35,500.
McDonald then explained he didn't realize Gregg had originally opened and was under the impression Perkins had opened the pot. "I'd have played that hand quite differently," McDonald explained much to the amusement of his opponents.
