Eugênio Mattar is in first heading to Day 5.

Fifty-seven players navigated their way to Day 4 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, and five levels later, 24 remain. Eugenio Mattar will open the heaviest bag, containing 2.673 million when Day 5 begins on Tuesday. Mattar has no recorded live cashes, but it's doubtful any money jumps will faze him, as the Brazilian business owner appears on Forbes' list of the richest people in Brazil at no. 72.

Emrah Cakmak (2.037 million), Chance Kornuth (2.026 million), Andreas Samuelsson (1.628 million), Pratyush Buddiga (1.624 million), Shyam Srinivasan (1.31 million), Maurice Hawkins (962,000), Jim Collopy (799,000), Rami Boukai (769,000), Dylan Linde (709,000), and Noah Schwartz (238,000) are among those joining Mattar for Day 5.

A chunk of Mattar's chips came at the expense of retired Brazilian football legend Ronaldo. The PokerStars SportStar spent the entire day at the featured table, where he was able to hold his own until the last half hour or so of Level 23 (10,000/20,000/2,000), the last of the night. That's when he opened from a middle position with {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to 80,000, saw Mattar three-bet to 200,000, and jammed all in. Mattar called for 536,000 total with {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, and a {5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts} run out left the Brazilian superstar all smiles as he shook hands with his former opponents.

If Srinivasan's name doesn't jump off the page, his online alias "s_dot111" should, as the Canadian has claimed more than $7.5 million in online cashes. Last year, he ran deep in this very event and ultimately finished sixth for $328,020, his first six-figure live score. He followed it with a solid slate of live tournaments and said the experience is paying dividends.

"I feel a lot more comfortable," he said. "Last year was my first real deep run in a live poker tournament but I feel so much better now."

He's confident he'll be able to make sound decisions as the field winds down and the pressure increases.

"I'm just going to take every situation as it comes," he said. "I've played so many hands of poker that I know what to do."

Among those who headed to the payout desk and left with fatter wallets today were Mario Puccini (57th), Alex Venovski (52nd), PokerStars Team Online pro Naoya Kihara (50th), Global Poker Index leader Ole Schemion (45th), former Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel (42nd), PokerStars Team Pro Jason Mercier (41st), Olivier Busquet (39th), and Shannon Shorr (35th).

The tournament resumes at noon on Tuesday, so come right back to PokerNews for more live coverage.

Samuelsson Doubles Through Pastor On Last Hand

123md • Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 2,000 ante

Anrdeas Samuelsson opened from middle position, Ratharam Sivagnanam called on the button, Juan Martin Pastor called from the big blind and the flop fell {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Action checked to Samuelsson and he continued for 58,000. Sivagnanam called, Pastor check-raised to 185,000, Samuelsson called and Sivagnanam folded.

The {K-Clubs} fell on the turn and Pastor bet effectively 519,000, sending Samuelsson into the tank for about six minutes before he called with {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}, leading Pastor's {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

The {2-Diamonds} river was no help to Pastor, securing the double for Samuelsson.

Edward Sorensen shoved for 253,000 in the cutoff, Emrah Cakmak called in the small blind and Diego Ventura reraised all in from the big blind for 595,000. Cakmak tanked for a bit before he folded.

Sorsensen: {K-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Ventura: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, giving Ventura quad queens to score the elimination.

Hambitzer Doubles Through Pastor

[user272102] • Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 2,000 ante

Juan Martin Pastor, leading the tournament in chips, opened from early position to 40,000 and it was folded all the way to Niklas Hambitzer in the big blind. Hambitzer sorted out some chips and moved them into the middle with emphasis, slapping them down, for a reraise to 215,000.

Pastor thought for a moment and announced all in and was snap-called by Hambitzer. Pastor held {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and Hambitzer {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

All in and at risk, Hambitzer stood up, exhaling as he did. As the dealer put out the flop, Pastor snapped his fingers as if wanting to magically make an ace appear. It didn't work, however, as the flop came {3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The turn changed nothing as it was the {J-Hearts}. The river was the {Q-Clubs} and Hambitzer pumped his fists and said "whew" as he sat back down. Hambitzed moved to 1,350,000 after the hand and Pastor dropped to a still very healthy stack of 1,750,000.

Ronaldo's Run Ends

Ronaldo
Ronaldo

Ronaldo raised to 80,000 from early position and Eugenio Pacelli Mattar three-bet to 200,000 from middle position. Action folded back to Ronaldo who shoved for 536,000, and Mattar cut out chips for a call before pushing them into the pot.

Ronaldo: {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Mattar: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Ronaldo was looking for a king, but he added two more outs on the {5-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. Unfortunately for him the {8-Clubs} turn and {J-Hearts} failed to improve his hand, sending him to the rail in 26th place.

Ronaldo wished his tablemates good luck before heading to the rail and signing some autographs for fans. The former football standout gave us a lot of fun moments during his Main Event run. The poker industry is certainly sad to see his run end.

Ritter Gets Three Streets from Etcheverry

mnuwwarah • Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 2,000 ante

Uwe Ritter opened under the gun and was called by only Juan Etcheverry, on the button. Ritter fired 77,000 on the {6-Hearts}{j-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop, and Etcheverry called. The Argentinian called another barrel of 104,000 on the {6-Diamonds} turn, and a {2-Spades} finished the board. Ritter bet 157,000, and Etcheverry cut out calling chips and leaned back in his seat. A few minutes later, he pushed them in.

Ritter immediately tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, and Etcheverry flung his cards muckward.
