Mercier Calls with Ace High

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

From under the gun, Matthew Wantman raised to 11,000. Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier reraised to 28,500 on the button, and play folded back to Wantman. He called, and the flop came down {J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Both checked, and the turn was the {6-Diamonds}. Both checked again.

The river was the {8-Spades}, and Wantman bet 27,000. Mercier thought about it and called, to which Wantman turned up the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. Mercier had the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and won the pot.

"I was gonna say, 'ace-king is good,'" Wantman said. "Nice call."

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

From under the gun, Jonathan Jaffe raised to 12,500. Play folded to Rui Milhomens in the big blind, and he called to see the {J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. Milhomens checked, Jaffe bet 14,000, and Milhomens called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} to pair the board, and both players checked to see the {8-Clubs} land on the river. Milhomens led with a bet of 18,000, but it turned out to be a bluff after Jaffe called and he turned up the {6-Spades}{4-Spades}. Jaffe had the {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and won the pot.

Plouffe Ousted by "El Chapo"

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Leonardo Pires, who's been coined "El Chapo" at his table by Asher Conniff just knocked out a player right after the bubble in brutal fashion.

Pires raised before the flop and from his direct left it was Philippe Plouffe three-bet all in for 90,500, and Pires called right away when the action folded back to him.

Pires: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Plouffe: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The flop brought {6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Plouffe was running cards away from getting a full double up. The turn however brought the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {7-Diamonds}, sending Plouffe to the rail in shocking fashion.

Pires celebrated loudly, and he's on the run on a lifetime with the biggest stack in the room after the bubble burst.

After an entire 90-minute level of hand-for-hand play, Knut Karnapp is the bubble at the hands of Christopher Mcnamara.

Karnapp was very close to only his second live tournament cash. Earlier this week, he finished third in the LAPT Bahamas for $132,080 and his first live cash.

On the bubble hand, Karnapp shoved all in for his last 50,000 with {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and Mcnamara called with {a-Diamonds}{k-}.

The board was instantly in Mcnamara's favor when two diamonds hit the {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop. The turn was the {10-Hearts}, leaving Karnapp drawing to two outs. Unfortunately for Karnapp the river was the {4-Spades} and he was eliminated and the stone bubble of the PCA Main Event.

David Robinson
David Robinson

David Robinson raised all in for 51,000 from middle position, and Shawn Buchanan called from the button. After the other tables played out their hands, it was revealed that Robinson was all in and at risk with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} against the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for Buchanan.

The flop came out {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades} to give Buchanan the lead. Although Robinson fell behind there, he pulled right back in front with the {K-Clubs} on the turn. The {8-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, and Robinson earned the double.
