Lewis Eliminates Spears

Day 1a chip leader Toby Lewis has skyrocketed during the last level and is now over 1 million chips. Along the way he eliminated Andy Spears.

The two got all in on the flop of {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Spears opened on the flop with a bet of 36,000 and Lewis raised to 125,000. Spears shoved and Lewis called.

Spears held pocket aces, {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}, and Lewis had two pair with {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The turn and the river were no help to Spears and that was the end of his day.

Barnes Eliminated

Allan Barnes got the last of his stack in with red aces, but an opponent had him drawing stone dead with a turned ten-high straight holding {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Barnes took his leave of the tournament.

Kliment Roussev Tarmakov has been eliminated by Michael Rocco. The two players were all in and Tarmakov was at risk.

Rocco held {a-}{k-} against the pocket eights, {8-}{8-}, of Tarmakov. Rocco hit a king on the flop and that would be enough to end Tarmakov's day.

Jaffe and Tedeschi Tangle

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Jonathan Jaffe and Paul Tedeschi just played a big pot, and Tedeschi got paid off on the river with two pair.

Three players saw the {k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, Jaffe bet 42,000, Tedeschi called, and Andy Spears folded. It was heads up to the turn.

The turn was the {5-Hearts}, Jaffe checked and Tedeschi bet 64,000, Jaffe called.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Jaffe check-called Tedeschi's river bet. Tedeschi had a king for two pair and Jaffe had pocket sevens.

Barnes Doubles Through Eldridge

David Eldridge and Allan Barnes got all the money in the middle. Barnes was the one at risk for 167,000 with the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Eldridge had the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and was looking to score the knockout of his opponent.

The {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop put Barnes in the lead. The {A-Diamonds} turn and {4-Spades} river kept him there, and Barnes doubled up.

Barbuto Eliminates Nguyen

Former Asia-Pacific Poker Tour Manila winner Binh Nguyen was all in for 167,000 with the {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades} against the dominating {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} for Ivan Barbuto. The flop, turn, and river ran out {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, and Nguyen was eliminated.

Petre Doubles Through Pires

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

On the button, Thomas Petre raised to 26,000. Chip leader Leonardo Pires reraised from the small blind to 106,000, and play moved back to Petre. He reraised all in for 361,000, and Pires made the call.

Petre turned over the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, and Pires had the {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

The {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} flop gave Petre a pair of nines, but Pires did pick up an inside straight draw to a seven. The turn was the {9-Hearts} to give Petre trips, and the river completed the board with the {A-Hearts} to finish Petre with a full house.

Spears Survives

A little after bluffing a chunk of his stack to Matt Waxman, button Andy Spears shoved over a Waxman cutoff open, with the latter calling for 145,000.

Spears nailed his set on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, turning the cooler around, and the {7-Diamonds} turn and {9-Diamonds} river ensured his survival.

Demlakian Looking Up

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Vasken Demlakian is adding more chips to his stack, this time against Vladimir Troyanovskiy.

Troyanovskiy raised preflop to 28,000 and Demlakian called from the big blind. The flop came {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} and both players checked. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Demlakian checked. Troyanovskiy bet 31,000 and Demlakian called.

The river was the {q-Clubs} and this time Demlakian led for 57,000. Troyanovskiy thought for a moment and then folded.
