Lewis Eliminates Spears

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Day 1a chip leader Toby Lewis has skyrocketed during the last level and is now over 1 million chips. Along the way he eliminated Andy Spears.

The two got all in on the flop of {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Spears opened on the flop with a bet of 36,000 and Lewis raised to 125,000. Spears shoved and Lewis called.

Spears held pocket aces, {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}, and Lewis had two pair with {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The turn and the river were no help to Spears and that was the end of his day.

Racener Doubles Through Holz

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
John Racener
John Racener

Former WSOP Main Event runner up John Racener doubled up against Fedor Holz.

Racener opened with an all in for 89,000 and Holz called. Racener had {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} against the {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} of Holz. After the board ran out {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Racener won the hand and doubled up.

After the hand Matt Waxman was laughing. Apparently he asked Holz whether he would win this hand before the flop came and Holz responded with a deadpan no. He also predicted that table mate Toby Lewis would win an earlier hand that he eliminated Andy Spears with.

Waxman seems to be amused by Holz's ability or possibly just his pessimism.

McCormick Doubles With a Boat

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Martin McCormick
Martin McCormick

Martin McCormick, who became popular for his antics yesterday, is hanging around and doubled just before the break at the feature table.

He got all in with {q-}{6-} against {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. The board ran out {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and was giving him a bit of concern as he had to avoid a two or a seven to stay in the tournament. His concern was gone once the river gave him a full house with the {q-Diamonds}.

After he won the hand, McCormick hugged Phillip McCallister who was sitting right next to him.

Pires Busts Drory

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Chip leader Leonardo Pires fired 500,000 on the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board with two opponents against him in the hand, Lawrence Bayley and Joseph Drory. The bet was enough to put both Bayley and Drory all in, and Bayley opted to folded. Drory made the call with {K-}{K-}, but it was no good against the {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} that Pires held for a flopped full house.

Drory was eliminated, and Pires hit 3 million in chips.
