Mateos Loses Some

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

There were about 10,400 chips already in the middle and the board read {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} when we got to the table. Adrian Mateos checked from the big blind and his lone opponent, the player in the hijack, checked behind.

The turn brought the {A-Spades}, Mateos bet 4,200, and his opponent called.

The {Q-Hearts} fell on the river and Mateos bet again, 6,300 this time. His opponent called and tabled {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Mateos flashed {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} before he tossed his hand into the muck and the dealer pushed the pot to his opponent.

Stemmler Eliminates Day in Two Hands

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The action folded around to Michael Farrow on the button who raised to 4,300. Both Jason Stemmler in the small blind and Christopher Day in the big blind called to see the flop fall {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

Both of the blinds checked and Farrow continued for 5,600. Stemmler called and Day check-raised to 19,000. Farrow quickly got rid of his cards but Stemmler stuck around to see the {9-Hearts} on the turn.

Stemmler checked again and Day fired another 16,000, which Stemmler called. The river brought the {a-Diamonds} and both players checked. Stemmler tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for a rivered pair of aces and Day flashed the {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} before mucking.

In the very next hand, the action folded to Stemmler on the button who raised to 4,000. Day pushed all in for his last 27,500 from the small blind and Stemmler called. It was a race situation with Stemmler holding {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Day with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Day was unable to connect with the board. In just two hands, Day was eliminated and sent all of his chips to Stemmler.

Margets Wins Without Showdown

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

There were about 17,000 chips in the pot and the board read {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} when we got to the table. Leo Margets was in the big blind and had committed 11,400 on the river. The player in the small blind was contemplating his decision, but after some time in the tank, he ultimately folded.

As Margets took the pot, another player who had briefly stepped away returned to the table and asked the small blind if he'd called. When he shook his head, the third player commented, "I was going to call with ace high."

"KingLun" is No More

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

A player opened from early position with a raise to 4,200. Alan Lau was in the cutoff seat and he decided to raise, making it 14,700. Action folded around to the small blind where Patryk Poterek put in a four bet to 102,400, enough to put either of his opponents all in. The original raiser folded, but Lau dropped into the tank. He though for nearly a minute before calling of right around 60,000 chips.

Lau: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Poterek: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The flop was crushing for Lau when it fell {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} which left Lau in a big hole looking to catch up. The tur nwas the {4-Diamonds} though and the river ws the {A-Hearts} brining him now help. Poterek won the flip allowing him to take down the pot and Lau hits the rail and will have to wait for another opportunity to find sucess here at the PCA.

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

PokerStars pro poker player Jake Cody comes into Day 2 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2018 with a huge chip lead. Will he bully the table and be super aggressive? Or will he be more cautious and hold on to his valuable chips. Being a big stack in a poker tournament isn't necessarily easy. He also talks about the departure of fellow PokerStars pros Vanessa Selbst and Jason Mercier.

Mateos Wins a Heavyweight Bout

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

A couple of the high stakes tournament regulars, Adrian Mateos and Koray Aldemir, have been sitting across from each other at the same table since the start of Day 2. Eventually, they were going to get involved in a pot together and they waited until the last level of the night.

Mateos opened to 5,200 from early position and Aldemir called on the button. The dealer spread the flop of {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Mateos led out for 7,500. Aldemir stuck around to see the {10-Clubs} fall on the turn.

Mateos fired out another bet of 19,200 and Aldemir still called. The {8-Clubs} on the river completed the board and Mateos cautiously checked. Aldemir quickly checked behind and Mateos turned over {a-Spades}{k-Spades}. Aldemir slid his cards to the muck and the pot was sent to Mateos.
