Adrian Mateos At Risk Against Daniel Coupal

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Daniel Coupal raised to 50,000 from the button and Adrian Mateos three-bet all in for roughly 450,000 from the small blind. Coupal made the call and the hands were turned up.

Mateos: {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Coupal: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Mateos was in trouble and looking for an ace, and he got one on the {q-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {k-Hearts} turn nor {Q-Hearts} river changed a thing, and Coupal sent over the chips.s

With that, the short stack at the start of the day is sitting pretty.

Maurer Shoves the Flop

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Florian Maurer opened with a raise to 45,000 from the cutoff and he found calls from Koray Aldemir on the button and Jean Ateba in the big blind.

The flop came down {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} and Ateba checked. Maurer continued with a bet of 75,000. Aldemir folded. Ateba attempted to make a raise, but was a bit short, putting out only 128,000. He was allowed to complete to 150,000. Maurer, possibly sensing weakness, then quickly moved all in. Ateba shook his head, then folded allowing Maurer to build his stack a bit more.

Phillip Corion Eliminated in 16th Place ($49,680)

Phillip Corion - 16th Place
Phillip Corion - 16th Place

David Peters opened for 45,000 from early position with the {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Jonathan West, who looked down at pocket aces in the cutoff, three-bet to 100,000.

Phillip Corion then picked up the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} in the big blind and shoved for 365,000.

Peters quickly ditched his hand and West snap-called.

Corion was in desperate need of a jack, but he watched helplessly as the board ran out a jack-less {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

With that, the tournament experienced its first loss of the day.

Maurer Doubles Up

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

From the cutoff, Florian Maurer shoved all in for 175,000. Koray Aldemir called on the button. Everyone else folded so it was off to a showdown.

Aldemir: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Maurer: {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} which was no help to Maurer, but the {10-Clubs} came on the turn giving him the lead. He held up through the {8-Diamonds} on the river and that allowed him to double up, making him one of the first players to win a pot from Aldemir today.

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Adrian Mateos raised to 45,000 from early position with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Jonathan West called from the button with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Both blinds folded and it was heads-up to the {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop.
