Kurganov Eliminates Negreanu Before the Break

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Igor Kurganov raised it up from the cutoff and Daniel Negreanu was in the big blind. He wasn't sure what to do so he just ripped all in for a little over 200,000. Kurganov made a quick call and Negreanu was at risk.

"Do you have aces?" Negreanu asked.

"No," Kurganov responded as he timidly tabled {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

"Good, we're chopping then," Negreanu laughed as his {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} hit the felt.

Negreanu was unable to catch the ace he was looking for on the {6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} board and he quickly left the tournament area before the first break. The remaining 27 players are heading on their first 20-minute break of the day.

Chidwick Doubles Through Catz, Vogelsang Eliminated

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

As the first break of the day approaches, the field is starting to shrink at a rapid pace. There were all-ins at multiple tables including Stephen Chidwick and Christoph Vogelsang. Chidwick opened to 16,000 on the button and Cary Katz shipped all in from the big blind. Chidwick called off his last 197,000 and the cards were on their backs.

Stephen Chidwick: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Cary Katz: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Chidwick held on for the double up despite Katz picking up tons of outs on the turn.

At the table next door, Vogelsang wasn't as lucky when he got involved in a pot with Henrik Hecklen. We didn't catch Vogelsang's cards before they hit the muck but Hecklen held pocket eights on a nine-high board and sent Vogelsang packing.

Nemeth Doubles Through Kruk, Eliminates Koon

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jason Koon jammed second to act for 55,000, Andras Nemeth shoved from a couple of seats over for 132,000 and Christopher Kruk made it three all ins on the button.

Jason Koon: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Andras Nemeth: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Christopher Kruk: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Koon grabbed the lead as {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Spades} flopped. However, the {a-Spades} turn was exactly what Nemeth needed. The river was the {9-Clubs} and Koon headed out while Kruk could only shake his head and pay off the double.

Badziakouski Eliminates Pollak

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Mikita Badziakouski opened for 17,000 on the button and Benjamin Pollak ripped in for 156,000 in the big blind after thinking briefly. Badziakouski double-checked his holding and then dropped in some chips.

Mikita Badziakouski: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Benjamin Pollak: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}

The {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} was an awful flop for the Frenchman, but he had a pulse after the {5-Diamonds} turn. The {2-Diamonds} river didn't help him, though.

Strong Start for Hunichen

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Chris Hunichen came into the day with just over a starting stack but he is making waves early on through the first couple of levels on Day 2. The action was left to Justin Bonomo in the small blind and Hunichen in the big blind who each put in 28,000 preflop. The dealer fanned the flop of {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Bonomo check-called a bet of 38,000 from Hunichen.

The turn brought the {j-Spades} and Bonomo checked again. Hunichen dropped in a bet of 95,000 and Bonomo stuck around to see the {3-Spades} on the river. He quickly checked one more time and Hunichen counted out a bet of 225,000. Bonomo went into the tank for a couple of minutes, using three time extensions before announcing a call. Hunichen tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Bonomo sent his cards to the muck.

Hunichen has increased his stack to over one million chips through the first 90 minutes and sits among the leaders now.

Thorel Eliminates Antonius

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Patrik Antonius shoved from second position and Jean-Noel Thorel isolated with another all-in jam on his left.

Antonius' {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} was live against {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. He flopped a leading pair but got hammered by the turn and busted as the board ran out {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

"Good game," he said on his way out.
