Janikova Shaves Peters

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Alexandra Janikova (at an earlier event)
Alexandra Janikova (at an earlier event)

With over 6k in the middle, three players saw a {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop which got checked around. On the {A-Diamonds} turn, Alexandra Janikova bet 4,000 and Tobias Peters was the only caller.

The river brought the {6-Hearts} and Janikova bet 7,000, which Peters quickly called. Janikova showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Peters, unable to best it, slid his hand in the muck.

Straight Launches Ponomarev

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Nikolay Ponomarev had a bet of 10,000 in front of him on a completed board of {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Jean Piquette was the one forced to make a decision for three-quarters of his stack.

He ended up calling after a minute but had to muck when Ponomarev showed him {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a straight to leave Piquette short.

Simpson Takes One Out

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Ian Simpson is presumably the top stack in the room after tripling up in the early stages. In one of the biggest hands, a player opened to 500, Simpson three-bet to 1,800 from the small blind and his opponent called. The flop was {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Simpson continued for 2,300, which got called.

On the {9-Hearts} turn, Simpson check-called a bet of 4,000. The river was the {K-Spades} and Simpson checked again. His opponent moved in for 9,300 and Simpson, having him barely covered, called after five seconds.

Simpson's {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} was good as his opponent couldn't muster up more than {J-Spades}{10-Spades} and had to part the tournament area.

243 Players After Two Levels

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

The clock already shows 243 players after two levels, making last year's number of 290 one that will be easily broken. Late registration is open up until the start of level 9. Players can enter a maximum of two times in either flight A, flight B or both, but no more than two times overall in the tournament.
