Jared “BeamDoctorPoker” Halter Streams PokerStars Platinum Pass Invitational Victory

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Jared Halter

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is happening now, and later this month the PokerStars Players NLH Hold’em Championship (PSPC) will take place January 30-February 3. One man who will be heading to the Bahamas is 41-year-old Jared “BeamDoctorPoker” Halter, who won a Platinum Pass on PokerStars Michigan.

“I won a PSPC Platinum Pass on Wednesday, November 9,” Halter told PokerNews. “I had just returned from Vegas that morning on a red eye flight and slept for four hours on a friend’s couch before I drove home for two hours. To be honest, I was very fortunate to win because I had a very rough 72 hours. Some things happened in Vegas that caused me to have anxiety attacks for the first time in my life and I ended up only sleeping about five hours total in the previous 48.”

He continued: “I was exhausted and when the MTT started, I said to myself, it will take a miracle for me to win. Funny enough, I mis-clicked two different times early in the tourney and called three-bets with hands like 85o (I did not win those hands). I streamed the tourney, and only single tabled it, because of how tired and ungrounded I felt from the previous time. During the stream, I talked about how exhausted I was and how there was almost zero chance I win. Of course, as we know, the universe had a different plan.”

Davies Ousts Vieira

Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

Seth Davies opened to 3,500 from the cutoff and Joao Vieira called out of his short stack from the big blind. Vieira then put in his last 5,500 on the {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop and Davies called.

Joao Vieira: {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Seth Davies: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Vieira was ahead but immediately needed help after Davies improved to a pair of aces on the {a-Spades} turn. The {7-Spades} river completed the board and Vieira left the tournament room.

Raymond Wins a Big One

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

On a heads-up completed board of {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, the action was on Fabiano Kovalski and he decided to bet 60,000 into the already swelled pot of 70,000.

His opponent, Alexandre Raymond, snap-called and the hands were tabled.

Kovalski turned over {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for an ace-high bluff and Raymond flipped over {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a rivered flush.

Raymond was pushed the massive pot to boost his stack to 270,000 while Kovalski was left with barely a starting stack.

Guimond Eliminated by Fox

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

In the final hand of the level, Florian Guimond was up against Elio Fox. Until the {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades} river, there were some 32,500 in the middle and Guimond had checked. Fox pushed all-in with the covering stack and that sent his table neighbour into the tank.

Eventually, Guimond called it off and was shown the bad news. Fox revealed {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a jack-high straight and the {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} of Guimond were no good.

Baha Mar Resort

What seemed to be unlikely after the first two starting days, based on the number of entries, has culminated with a strong turnout during the first two levels on Day 2. The 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) $10,300 Main Event drew 249 new entries and that boosted the overall attendance to 889 entries, which generated a prize pool of $8,623,300.

The top 127 finishers will walk away with a payday of at least $17,600 at the luxurious Baha Mar Resort in The Bahamas and the final 11 players will lock up a six-figure payday. Both the winner and the runner-up can look forward to at least $1 million in prize money and the eventual champion walks away with the golden Main Event trophy and $1.5 million for the efforts.

Wakil Eliminates Dzivielevski in Flush Over Flush

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Yuri Dzivielevski
Yuri Dzivielevski

There was 25,000 in the pot heading to the turn. Jamil Wakil was under the gun against Yuri Dzivielevski in the big blind.

The board read {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and action checked through.

The river was the {q-Diamonds} and Dzivielevski bet 8,000. Wakil moved all in for 70,000 effective. Dzivielevski quickly made the call but it was a brutal beat against him as Wakil showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the king high flush which beat Dzivielevski's {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to eliminate him from the tournament.
